Vegging under 16/8 and some other questions

I am currently switching my whole room around a bit and am thinking of vegging for 16/8. Will I have any problems doing this? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Will I have problems with plants trying to flower during veg due to the light schedule?

My old setup was 600watt flower and 400watt veg. After thinking about it for a bit and doing some math I realized for a small increase in power usage I could flower under both the 600 and 400 and then veg under a t5 ho 4x54 fixture.

1 flower room
600watt 30day usage 12/12 - 216kw
400 watt 30 day usage 18/6 - 216kw
total - 432kw

vs

2 flower rooms
600watt 30 day 12/12 - 216kw
400watt 30 day 12/12 - 144kw
216watt 30 day 16/8 - 104kw
total - 464kw
(I know this doesn't include ballasts, fans, etc)

Now at first the 400watt room will be a MH since I just purchased the bulb not even 2 months ago. How is flowering under MH? Once I get things more dialed in my goal is to replace the 400watt with a 600 and then run them on a flip flop system.

Strains will be critical mass and bogglegum (which I hope to make a cross of for the fun of it)

I also have a question on how to best setup ventilation. The 600watt room is 4.5x4.5 running vertical and the 400watt room is about 3x3. setup something like this in a lung room

right now I have a 6" cap value 400cfm with a scrubber for the 600watt room. Will the 400cfm fan be enough to exhaust both rooms if I move the scrubber and fan into the lung room? Basically put a Y splitter on the fan and suck air from both rooms while pushing it through the scrubber and then vent the air from the lung room outside with another fan.

Dude Dude Dude, save yourself the hassle of multiple venting systems and multiple circulation fans, use both lights in the same flower.. and VEG 24hrs a day.. cool.. ? Cool !

depends on the strain, you could root some clones and just test them ahead of time. If they don't show signs of flowering within a week or so you are probably good to go on planting a full crop. disadvantages will likely be slower growth in veg but if you want them short that could also be an advantage. or who knows there may be little to no difference in growth rate.

Alternately if they do flower under 16 hrs of light, you could likely shorten the flowering time by flowering this way.

I used MH for years and years as a stand alone bud light. MH works fine, quality is same, but the buds will be noticably smaller. Mixing the MH with HPS gives the larger growth gotten from straight HPS but gives it a faster growth pattern.

I used 16/8 with my sativa for years also without a problem, but I was gifted an indica and some of the clones try to start budding under 16/8. Bumped it to 18/6 and all is good again.
I also believe sleep every night is good. The controversy comes in when the light is less intense, at a certain point the need for more light overcomes the need for sleep and the plant does better on 24/0. As long as the end result is smokable bud I will not argue about best, only my personal preference.

It was in another forum that I came upon some data showing lab results measuring root development using different light periods.

According to these good fellows the period that stimulated root development the most was: 16/8

I would say that some strains do better than others following any given period so please test and do several runs before adopting any new schedule.
