"If we embrace our mission as Bodhisattvas of the Earth and dedicate our lives to kosen-rufu, we will be able to manifest the life-state of Buddhahood in this existence and pass into death without fear, upon which we can dwell in the world of Buddhahood of the universe, which is often referred to in the Daishonin's Buddhism as the 'pure land of Eagle Peak.' It represents the eternal 'home' of life itself and the eternal realm of comrades of the Mystic Law from time without beginning. Here, in the deepest dimension of life, we can be rejoined with our deceased family, loved ones, friends, and fellow members."

"Positive human connections and the mentor-disciple relationship are indispensable in guiding people to enlightenment in the Latter Day of the Law. By respecting others, we have built a network dedicated to good, a truly humanistic alliance. Its growth has contributed tremendously to bringing forth people's goodness and humanity. This ripple effect or chain reaction of one person positively inspiring another will help elevate the spiritual state of people as a whole, change society for the better, bring peace and security to the land, and ultimately transform the destiny of all humankind."

No meeting tonight, but I gotta act fast and get my daimoku in!

Don't you guys ever feel like, if you don't make time to chant then life gets too busy to give you an opportunity to chant? I gotta do my best to make time to sit in front of the Gohonzon and chant for my happiness. I'm not only chanting for myself, but I am always chanting for others.

My mom is still alive and fighting. She is feeling a little hopeful and the lastest chemo therapies have been helping her. Just like i won't stop chanting, my mom won't stop living! I've been chanting for the entire time she has had cancer and I'm sure that my prayers are keeping her alive. She's got the pentecostal, evangelical and catholic churches praying for her, but 1 trillion people in those groups praying for mom could never match even 1 daimoku from me to the Gohonzon. Nichiren teaches his disciples the value behind reciting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, but I know through my experience that there is nothing like our practice and nothing like our faith. I believe in humanity and not mythical creatures and their superhuman prophets or children. When we chant we immediately become sages ourselves and have all the potential laden within the universe.

My joy lately has been participating in this thread and translating this knowledge here into action for the sake of American Kosen-rufu. The wisdom is gained through sincere prayers to the Gohonzon and President Ikeda is fighting for all of us Americans and Global Citizens to participate in the SGI and be happy. I hope all SGI members throughout the world are chanting as much daimoku as possible everyday!

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you better ask somebody!

PS: For those interested, based on the same circumstance, my Dad was given six months to live, a year ago. He is alive and doing fine. I continue to chant for him daily. His heart efficiency has even increased from twenty to thirty percent!

From My Dear Friends in America, by Daisaku Ikeda, page 428.

Should all our prayers be answered without our having to make any effort, we would grow lazy. Should all our desires be achieved without or ever having to experience suffering or hardship, we could not understand the pain and struggles of others, and our compassion would gradually wane.

The real benefit of the Mystic law is inconspicuous. Just as trees grow taller and stronger year after year, adding growth rings that are imperceptible to the human eye, we, too, will grow toward a victorious existence. For this reason, it is important that we lead tenacious and balanced lives based on faith.

"If in a single moment of life we exhaust the pains and trials of millions of kalpas, then instant after instant there will arise in us the three Buddha bodies with which we are eternally endowed. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is just such a 'diligent' practice."

From Buddhism in Action, by Soka Gakkai International USA, page 2.

Ultimately, we are responsible for our own destiny. It may seem to us that our fate is predetermined, whether by our genes or by our environment. What really matters, however, is how we can improve ourselves from this moment forward, how we can change the circumstances that we find ourselves in. This enormous transformative force is what Buddhism is all about. In this struggle lies the source of never-ending youth and vitality.

"Now, no matter what, strive in faith and be known as a votary of the Lotus Sutra, and remain my disciple for the rest of your life. If you are of the same mind as Nichiren, you must be a Bodhisattva of the Earth."

"More and more, people around the world are seeking the philosophy of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism—the essence of the Lotus Sutra—which draws forth the supremely noble power of the human being. As SGI members, everything comes down to our behavior and actions as individuals who uphold the Mystic Law. Today, leading figures in all spheres are expectantly watching our efforts to share a truly universal teaching of humanism with people all across the globe. "

A person who has the spirit to challenge and work hard, is invincible. The most fundamental step (towards becoming such a person) is to chant Daimoku! Decide that you are going to win, no matter what, and then make all out efforts in preparation.
