I was thinking about the implications of evolution. I used to worry about the human species being wiped out. But then it hit me that we evolved from the same ancestors as every other lifeform on this planet. And it doesn't end there. Our planet evolved from the same substances that form the stars and everything else in the galaxy. And it doesn't end there. Our galaxy evolved from the substances that create everything else in the universe. Therefore, even if we were wiped out our "cousins" billions of light years away would continue. The cycle would continue. We are all one in that sense and death will not stop us.

(Not that I spin this into any kind of belief in afterlife or spirituality. That would still require evidence.)
