Lots of talk from the apocalypse speakers today because the dow is down.

Then in a few days when it goes back up or stays even they will post articles from zerohedge and say "oh just wait just wait its coming".

I totally see the possibility of the market going into a depression. But those people thinking the world is ending, money will be worth nothing, people will go back to bartering and paying with gold, and the world will be set back a few hundred years is just hilarious to me.

what do you think will happen when the motherfuckers in the projects don't their welfare check or food stamps? that is a 100% possibility. soldiers not being paid? another one.

NVM we will just print more money. QEIII coming up. welcome to hyper inflation.

the people that are self sustainable will always have it better whether the market crashes and everything goes to shit or not...

I think this post proves the ignorance that the haves around the world think that the ball will never stop and they will always roll. The 2008 elections caused quite some problems economically with all the finger pointing, drama and economic hysterics. 2012 do you expect the parties to be kinder and smarter with what they say? I would sell that stock and keep the money close to my shotgun. We may be in for one wild ride.

Ok. So you totally see the possibility of the economy going into a depression. It's not like we aren't in one already, but I'll humor you.

Given that there was a banking holiday during the first Great Depression then by your estimation it is not only not likely to happen during the 2nd Great Depression, but a completely preposterous and even amusing idea. The implication is that history doesn't repeat itself. An idea that I happen to find preposterous and amusing.

Also, just because your currency is destroyed you assume that we are set back hundreds of years. More hyperbolic conclusion drawing nonsense. Did Germany disappear after Wiemar? Did Italy disappear after Rome? Did the world end? No one here is suggesting that. Hyperinflation is a fairly common economic phenomenon in history. The world is still here.

You know something else I find amusing. American arrogance and hubris. To think our currency can't be destroyed by endless printing is obtuse.

Whether you like it or not, you are in the minority when it comes to your apocalyptic thinking. The majority of the world thinks we will be in for some tough times but hardly think that the end of paper currency is near.

Secondly, and call me crazy, but I take a stranger's advice on a weed internet forum with a grain of salt. Especially when it's someone who has posted every day for a year about how we are all doomed.

My families funds were moved to secured guaranteed and insured annuities, but that's not to say that they are cashing out, transferring all currency to gold, and moving into the mountains.

We listen to experts who do this for a living, who have been with us for years, who handles 3/4 of a billion in personal assets from everyone from CEO's to normal workers, etc.

Don't insult me for having a different opinion than you about this ever present and just 'round the corner doomsday.

I think a smarter use of time and something that could be useful to all is a thread about self sustaining living. This is something that can be useful to anyone regardless of whether the world ends or not. A thread that doesn't start with 'the world is ending so you should all do this soon'. There was one a while ago but it dropped off the map.

Wether or not you think the world is going to end it couldn't hurt to invest in some precious metals or other "real" assets, incase shit does hit the fan.

I know a few people who were funnelling their financial gains from growing into gold when it was around 500 a oz a few years ago. They are laughing now lets just say that.

I like it actually. The majority (the herd) usually gets fleeced. Don't insult me for having a different opinion than yours. You called me personally out in this thread before I had even posted in it. Don't cry when I answer your charges back.

I know these folks and ran around on their forums for years. The ticker forum is a great one for this kind of stuff. Thing is though they are half right about how fucked we are. Jobs that were lost aren't coming back and the overall standard of living for the middle class is trending lower and will continue that way for years to come. The competition today is 10x harder than what it was in early 2007. If you are over 50 and had a job in manufacturing and now are unemployed with no other skillsets you are flipping burgers or working min wage in retail in this area. My area is a major metropolitan area in my state.

The general message of the doomers goes something like this. You must make something to make wealth. A service economy doesn't work. There is a lot of merit to this and not much is up for arguing. Look at China and look at us, then look at how we built our wealth then look back at China and then us and then look to the UK for our future. The only sectors of the economy that are paying a wage that has kept up with inflation is healthcare, banking, and government. At least the only sectors that can gainfully employee hundreds of thousands of ppl and pay them a salary in line with inflation. Everything else is fucked, royally.

Just wait till you realize food costs, gasoline costs, debt costs, etc start rolling upwards which they will (and have already) b/c the actions taken since 2008 guarantee it. You can listen to all the experts you want but when you see men like Carl Icahn lose their fucking ass you can bet yours didn't have a chance. Your doomsday scenario is waking up in 25 years and realizing you have nothing b/c the actions of those in power the last 25 years made sure of it. Numbers never lie and the numbers we are running are not ones conducive to building wealth and remaining the world's #1 in military and economic might. Like I said before look to the UK for our future and look at China to see our past.

All this bickering is useless. According to some kook website, the world is going to end in October. Glad my next harvest will be in September. At least i'll be high when the universe implodes.

Thats the thing with Cannabis, it helps you think outside of the box.

When uneducated people or unintelligent people think outside the box it often leads to paranoia, conspiracy theories, Mad max fantasies ect.

Combine that with the often lonely life of as grower, distrust of goverenment/Authorities, long internet outings, lack of contact with other people ect.

I'm curious what experts it is you listen to? Just about every so called financial expert I hear in the media has been wrong more than right.
You've bought annuities on the advice of experts? You might want to rethink that. Your annuity payout is in the process of being inflated away. You'll get your money back, it just isn't going to buy much. Gold is far and away the highest return asset class over the last 20 yrs.

my families financial adviser he is in the top 1% of financial advisers in the USA. started with a popular investment firm then branched out to franchise is own practice which he owns. been doing it 25 years. predicted and dealt with 2008 appropriately. very successful and honest man. CRPC.

He saved a family member 20% of his portfolio by having him rollover his 401k into the annuity a month ago, after having predicted these last few weeks of market turbulence. It is a guaranteed and insured 6% minimum return + death benefit. If the market continues to suck, its 6% solid. If it ever gets better, it can go above 6% return. Even if he pulled all 6% out forever, the death benefit balance still grows at 6% for the beneficiary (me). It is by far the most secure and smart decision given my family members current situation.

Gold is far and away the highest return asset class over the last 20 yrs.
If it was 5 years ago, sure. But to buy actual gold right now is pretty dumb considering how inflated it is.

If you think this thread is a waste of time, why are you in here? Go start any thread you want.

Never said it was a waste of time. The title of this thread is "seriously shut the fuck up already" regarding the world collapsing, and I fully support the thread.
