Hps or LED?

I'm going to start my second grow fairly soon and I want to upgrade from the two shitty 80 watt CFLs I have to something that will give me a great yield.

I have a decent amount of money to spend and would probably go up from a couple to five hundred bucks.

I want a low power bill and would like the most growth per watt with using the least amount of energy possible. If that makes sense.

so HPS or LED? what's the pros and cons of both? and wheres a good site I can order them from?

LEDs are known for great flowers in the hands of capable growers. Look to grows by Sleepy, Hazy, Blazeoneup and VerdantGreen to see what LEDs can do.

if you can manage the heat and want a "standard" way of growing, HPS is the way to go.

if you are well versed in LST and SCROG, l.e.d. can produce quality medicine.

Immune, I have bought 2 LEDs in the past month and a half neither of which I was happy with. I didn't like one due to the fact that the seller tried to screw me round and is still screwing around even now as I am waiting for my paypal refund. The other light (357magnum) is a decent (decent being the operative word as it is nothing special) light but the customer service the company offers is rubbish. How much are you looking at spending? I have spent a fair bit on LEDs (I'm lucky, have a fair amount of disposable income) over the past few years and I have gone from 14W to 45W panels to several different 90W UFOs and now I have gone 'all the way' so to speak and bought a decent powered light as the results, even with the UFOs (which are junk compared to the newer lights) were very impressive. If you are willing to spend a few hundred I'd say grab a blackstar entry level unit (they have very good service apparently and I heard this from friends, didn't read it in their marketing) and use fluoro lighting as supplemental light and you will see good results. I am going to have a 250W MH on either side of my LED as I have just upgraded to a 1.2x1.2m growlab which is pretty big (for me anyway, hobby only) and I'll need to use them simply as I cannot afford to use all LEDs right now. Seiously as far as MH-HPS goes I'd go with a wide spectrum MH or a Hortilux EYE with really wide spectrum light. If I had to choose between HPS and Halide I'd go Halide even for flower, frostier buds.

Raise them or leave them, 26 days in 12/12

Raise them or leave them, 26 days in 12/12

I have a question about the distance from lights to canopy? I was told 18'', but messed that up real good in first two grows. My lights were put up with the LED's fixed so i raised the plants to meet the light. My issue is that i never lowered the plants so i believe that the 150w full spectrum is doing all the work and the 150w reds/blues are not meeting together to give me all of what the lights could do.

I am in 26 days of 12/12, but im thinking if i lower the plants now will not really help me and maybe even unplug the reds/blue light. I am in a tent thats 2' x 4' x 5' with no exhaust, but am working on that. But its been much cooler and as long as i open the tent with lights on and give water when i see some droop, they seem fine.

So i guess i am wondering if i should lower the plants? One Indica is about 4'' away and one WW X PH is just as close. But on the other Indica, it has grown up and over the lights, i was able to top the other WW x PH and used it as a clone. Yeah my LST skills suck, but i dont have any finger dexterity, which gets in the way as i think you could understand. Anyway, thats how i got into this mess, just to let ya know, but i started out ok just got away from me. And the plan was a scrog, but that didn't work out.

If i move the plants now, i should get to that meeting of the lights where the LED's spectrum's are working together, right? I was told 18'' from the person they came from, but i keep messing up my canopy.

Or if i move them now, i might miss the best of the light intake, because i am trying the ''defoliation method''. Weez thought because of this, lowering the plants would not give me as much light. I am not doubting him at all, but just wondering if i did lower the plants would i get a better combination from both lights? Or lose out on the amount of light im getting now? I posted the link to my thread for anyone that might need a visual. I am only wondering if moving the plants down to meet both lights working together?

Just trying to learn my friends or getting both sides of my mess up.

LSY:thank you:
