Frankincense?!

Hello fellow ICMager's I was hopeing that some of you may be able to help me out. I'm on the hunt for sativa's from current seedbank offerings that have very pronounced tree resin scents and tastes...like "Frankincense". I would also be very interested in scents and tastes of other "woody resins" like spruce, sandlewood, ceaderwood, pine and walnut. But out of these frankincese is the one I hunt for most. Flowering time and price of seeds are of little concern to me, but it would be nice to have this in a mostly sativa plant, as I much prefer the sativa head! Any suggetions would be sweet!! Thanks

I found a frankincense pheno in Mr Nice SSH, it was hands down the best herb I have ever grown or smoked. It is my all time favorite and I have grown many more SSH's and other hazes but have yet to see this pheno pop up again. I know it is there, but it will be some work to find it.

I have found a slight frankincense flavor in REZ SSSDH IX-I but the smell is not there like it was in the SSH I had years ago.

Yup, MNS is the way to go for what you want IMHO. Mango Haze, or perhaps even better Mango Haze x Neville's Haze. I have grown out quite a few of the MH x NH cross and so have some friends (cross made by friends, not MNS, but it shouldn't matter much) , and I would say about a third of them have what you're after: frankincense and woody resins abound.

a lot of the pure haze hybrids from ACE seeds could fit the bill, the original haze has some incense phenotypes to be found.

I've got a 3-way cross I've made with a Nepal/Chitral/O.Haze and one pheno smelled like pure frankincense and tastes just like it.

Cedar taste and flavor is strong in the CBG/Ace panama. Out of the 19 females I had 14 of them had cedar taste/flavor

I´ve smoked hash made off Kaiki´s pelo rosa cut that had the cedarwood flav mentioned ^ and made me remember some moroccan hash of the early 80s :)

Thanks for the great replies everyone. I've been eyeing beans from all these breeders for awhile now so I'm happy I'm on the right track.

Iron_Lion That sounds amazing! Ive always wanted to try MNS SSH but have always shyed away. Would you or anyone else recomend it as a quality sativa smoke?

This trait is dear to my heart

The Frankincense trait which ive came to love ive experienecd in our finest NYC haze which we call frankies

As for the Origins of the trait from my research ,It comes from Colombian such as Golds an Reds The S.E asian such as Thai and cambodian an recently reported African such as Zimbabwe .The african wasnt a surprise considering that colombia has a african influenece it made sense IMO .

IME ive grown out Sk/Hz an Nevilles haze from MNS an they both had a Incense taste .Not frankincense but the NH has been reported to hold the trait .Id also check the mango haze an Afghan haze for possible keepers with afghanHz being more common

You can check this link below which is an old thread is started with some interesting info an Some BS from the haters

http://www.mrnice.nl/forum/4-talk-shantibaba-mrnice/3475-frankincense-trait-haze.html

As for Seedbanks ,with incense traits

Id suggest MNS at the top of the list NH af/Hz SSH MH

Than Ace seeds the green haze offerings .

Also reeferman has Original haze aka haze brothers haze which was straight from Sams an i think his Colombian Gold pure also carries sandlewood .

African seeds has Kariba surprise which holds the frankincense trait

Tom hill haze has been reported to have sandlewood traits

Thats off the top of my head ,i wish you the best an if i can think of anymore ill let you know

Thanks for the informative post and link bigherb!! But now I have a bunch more to look into lol. Keep it coming folks.

Anybody have any experience with Chimera's Highland Mexican x Blueberry? Can it produce Church incense/Frankincense smells and tastes?

Thanks!

There is many pheno's to sort thru in SSH, the most common I have come across is piney/pissy. Some SSH plants I have had went as long as 20 weeks 12/12 which is what makes SSH a real pain in the ass to work with.

I have read hear on the forums peeps say the frankincense smell comes from the NL/Haze combo or dominant plants, which coincides with the pheno I found in SSH.

Despite it's vast variation SSH is some 5 star herb.

What about DJ Shorts Flo or F-13? I ask because one of the building blocks of his Blue lines was the Highland Oaxaca Gold.

Here is Dj's own decription of the H.O.G...

The Finished Product: A very sweet and spicy herb of the highest quality, with a hint of fruity pine aroma. ) A certain, unmistakable flavor comes to mind: that of incense cedar/frankincense/burgundy/floral with spicy/savory undertones. Coffee, chocolate and fine tobacco were also present, but the sweet incense cedar is what I most recall from the Highland Oaxaca. It produced the most desirable finished product, in my opinion, and has yet to be replicated to my complete satisfaction. The seeds for this variety were small, dark and round, and the plants exhibited slight signs of hermaphroditism and required surveillance to maintain seedlessness.

The High: A long lasting, creeper high that kept coming on in waves over the hours, this stuff had no ceiling. One phenomenon consistently reported from the Highland Oaxaca experience was that of peripheral visual distortions of primarily cartoon color images. This tended to increase the visual distortions caused by other psychedelics such as mushrooms or LSD.

Smoke Report:
I smoked this variety during brief periods in the early 70's and again in the late 70's, paying anywhere between $40 and $120 per ounce. It was some of my all-time favorite because the aroma and flavor were of a super-spicy cedar incense with a slight fermented berry taste, in a very comfortable yet powerfully psychedelic pot. This herb contributed to many great parties, concerts and events of the era because it produced a very socially-conscious experience and mixed well with other psychedelics.

Anytime bro

There have been reports of frankincense in bubba kush aswell its not ommonly reported but it has been soo.The Fugu kush has Bubba kush x Blowfish an the frankincense trait comes from BF .Most likey from the Opt - oregon purple thai or the haze hybrid in the Cross.Blowfish was also made available in seed soo that might be another option .

Which goes back to the Origin of S.e asians such as Thai an South.A such as Colombians holding this trait .IMO its most common in pure sativas but it seems present in some Indica aswell such as Millenimum bud which if i recall has iranian blood

As for dj shorts strains holding the trait it isnt comonly reported or much at all as i recall but if i remember there was reportedily a Grape krush frankincense pheno ,Soo i guess becaz of the parents with some selection you might find somthing .
