6KW in 2 car garage or 3 car garage?

I was wondering what your opinions would be on growing with 6KW in a 3 car garage vs a 2 car garage?

In the beginning I was thinking 3 car garage for sure, more room for my odds and ends but I could still easily do the grow in a 2 car garage, but then I started to think with a 2 car car garage, I would have less space, so I would use less CO2 and use less air conditioning because its smaller in square feet right?

Thanks for your thoughts

I have seen a 30 light grow in a big 3 car garage, I would need to know the dimensions to give a good answer to your question.

Yes dimensions as mentioned above, dimensions dictate how much light you need. 50 watts per square foot of canopy is suggested and required if you seek to put out a quality product.

Also, the air conditioning required will not be determined by the amount of space, but by the insulation of your space, ambient temps around your space, and the amount of BTU's the equipment you are using are out putting.

The amount of co2 you use is also not determined by the space, so it is no concern. The intial fill of your room to the desired ppm would take more co2 but the rates at which co2 is taken up will depend upon your plants and the quality of the seal you have.

Sounds like you have a fair amount of research to do, welcome to ICmag! Get familiar with the search function and you will succeed. Good luck :)

If it's only 6k of lights and power you limit yourself to your limit in square ft is 150....at 25 square ft per light! Two car garage is generally 24 x 24=576 square ft....you would be using less than 1/3 of the garage for the bloom room! Veg room doesn't have to be nearly as large....a good sized closet shelved in half may do!

What syle of grow, your needs, and skills will determine the actual size you will use...there are so many options!
Research!

Some rooms are really tight and others have lots of room for movement around the plants....look at other grows here and you'll see what I mean!

if you ran say two 12 site undercurrent systems under 6k you`d only need a spot roughly 8x12, even with a generous amount of room given for moving around and what not that still fits easily in a two car garage.

but since your asking about a 2 or 3 garage i`m gonna assume you dont even have the house yet and this is just a pipedream, go for the 8 car garage!

in my 2 car garage I run 8 on a flip w 16 hoods... only 4 on per room over 12 hour photocycle..

I would be rethinking this--that is not nearly enough light. You need 5000 lumens per sq ft for flowering. This makes a 1000W good for about 30 sq ft. So 6 1000W are good for about 180 sq ft or less than 1/2 the size of a single car garage.

I think 6K would actually be underpowered even for a 2 car. 1K HPS is only good for about 5' x 5' , give or take.

I have one space 4 x 5 with one 1K, and one 5 x 8 with 2x 1K, and I think that I could fit another one in the smaller space and see increased results if it wouldn't make the temp go crazy.

Did you modify your amps? or did you keep it stock(with a dryer outlets im assuming)?

I ran 20 amps of 220 to my garage with a 20a 120 circuit already provided. it cost me 2 horticontrol flipsw to keep the amperage down and 2 photoperiods per 24...
