i prune away for up to 2 weeks in 12/12.works great and not much popcorn

How many runs with a new strain does it take you to figure out that flowering point?
Is there something you look for in general?
I kind try to go off the old Tick post....But that means I have to be on top of my game and my flower room needs to be ready. Thats my problem.....lol

basic pruning the lower branches and concentrating on on main branch works for most strains just fine. altho some strains will give a lower yield for me atleast. you can almost make any plant form a single cola with enough pruning.sativas give me the longest colas or hybrids.

Yeh, probably about 3x....I don't veg them at all except while the clones develop roots.
As far as I am concerned....veg time in a SOG.....is a waste of time.

Yeah I totally agree. I'm not a fan of ScrOG either. I just don't get it when you can flower from clone.
People need to pick a yielding pheno, and do exactly as you're doing if they want the best yields and time efficiency. Side branches and vegging are over rated in my opinion.

Those colas of yours make me think of Thai stick!
Used to love smoking them as they were dipped in oil...we used 12 inch Tobbacco papers to wrap them!

lol no secret to colas, but OP's method is WRONG! a clone flowered with no veg will produce the same cola without wasting 6 weeks vegging a plant just to cut it all away and leave your grow room 2/3 sticks and stems... that is such a waste of time, wattage, space, look at high country's sog, colas all the way to the bottom, so tightly spaced you can barely tell one plant from another...this can't be done with your method, the closest you could manage, would be slightly wider spacing but 3 times taller, of course 2/3'rds of that being pointless stems.... so all in all you would be wasting veg time and cab space to get the same, if not less, than a run of the mill sog which has the ultimate goal of making "colas" as your thread states and nothing else...
True single cola plants are from genetics plain and simple. Altering the structure in many cases will reduce yield and most plants will just yeild the same but have a dfferent shape. If your goal is big single colas search the strain guide there are many that do well making donkey dicks. This plant was a freak swt#3. Isay search with many beans looking for what fits your needs.
