Taking clones from unhealthy moms?

Will taking clones from unhealthy mom's cause any permanent problems, like loss of vigor, diminished quality ect., assuming they even root? Or will they become healthy as long as the environment is right?
My buddy just took some clones from some moms that were overferted, and had PH issues. Wondering if it will cause any long term problems?

I'm wondering the same thing. I have a mom that hasn't put out any new growth in a couple days, that I have cloned. The clones are rooted and should be ready for transplanting in a couple of days as soon as the roots are able to hit the bottom of a net pot. :bump:

It's never a good idea, unhealthy plants are more likely to carry diseases and that will be passed on to the clones. This will surely set u back, I'd rather bring the Mom back to health and then take cuts. Better to nurse one plant back to health than a bunch of them. Plus clones from healthy plants will clone faster and with more ease, cloning a unhealthy plant is just asking for lots more work.

Yea thats what I thought, they were flushed about 5 days ago and has made somewhat of a comeback but the leaves are still very curled and dry, not good. Oh well, guess we will hope for the best.

You'll often see higher failure rates as your clones won't have as good a resource pool to pull upon when it's root growin' time. Outside of viral/bacterial infections though stressed moms just seem to result in slightly higher rooting failures.

The other phenomenon you'll see with clones from unhealthy moms is the clone will reach a "stasis" point while they build up enough sugars/etc to push new growth. If you have a clone that just sits there after rooting with very little growth I'd just toss it. This "waiting" point as the plant builds up sufficient reserves to push new growth can last anywhere from a few days to a few MONTHS.
