Some help about lights?

So, finally decided to start my own garden, but not sure about lights. Have 250cm x100cm x125cm grow cab, i plan to make 100cm for veg, 100for flower and 50 for mothers, and on top of mothers some place for clones. What do you think about cool white fluoros in veg and warm ones in flower(like 4x36w in veg, 4x36 in flower and 2x18w in mothers room? ) ? Just for the first run, to see how things will work out. So, what do you think?:tiphat:

Not worth the time and effort. You won't yield anything and things won't turn out good.

The whole thing from seed to yield can be about 6 months easy. Many people stretch the truth and fudge the numbers when it comes to real world grow times from seed to harvest.

You don't want to spend all that time and energy in your life learning how to grow the wrong way.

I tend to agree.... if you want to get a small start and get it figured out first i suggest getting an inexpensive 400w hps system with a metal halide conversion bulb and vegging with the halide and flowering under hps.... just a one room grow.

If you really want to go two rooms you can expand from there...
oooor...if money is an issue you can score some cheap shop lights from menards with 6500k bulbs (T8s)and veg under those. When your ready to flower invest in an hps!

Thats exactly how i got my start and just kept investing in my new business and now i have a flourishing 2 room, organic, perpetual harvest grow (i harvest 2-5 plants every 2 weeks or so).

You wont regret it....Its just not worth it to flower under fluoros!

Good luck budding greenthumb!

If you're trying to grow just enough to keep yourself supplied, CFL's are awesome. The dimensions you quoted are probably unsustainable with CFL's though. Your options: Smaller grow space with CFL's, or get a HPS rig.

As always, just my opinion and 2 cents. Best of luck.

This is a cabinet no?
1m x 1.25m and 2.5m tall.
Sounds perfect for seperating into chambers and CFL growing

Or am I missing something here?

Lumens per watt with CFL's is about the same as HID's and less than an HPS, so it will take 10 of those 42 watt CFL's to get the same results as a 400 watt HID.
On a personal note, I have had no luck with 6500K fluorscents of any kind as a main light, 5000K work best at veg for me. And I use them as sidelights in the budroom. HPS and 6500K work well together, but not any better than HPS and 5000K, so I don't bother to buy 6500's any more.
3 x 42w 2700K CFL's finished budding a small sativa for close to a month, the plant continued to bud without incidence, but less than the hot CMH lights would have grown it. Maybe 10 x 42w would have worked better, but if I had room for that I wouldn't need to go to all the extra effort of 10 separate lights.

Flouro's are an excellent starting place for a new grower, they are cheap, easy to find and usable in the house if you find that growing isn't for you.

And for them that say you can't grow quality bud or that you can't grow enough I say 'BULLSHIT'!

I spent my first 2 years growing under nothing but 23 and 26 watt CFL's hung in bathroom vanity fixtures with Y splitters over 7 gallon DWC buckets with 8 clones per bucket and I averaged an elbow per bucket.

btw, at that time I was running 4 of those buckets in my closet, each with it's own, 8 bulb fixture with approx. 200 watts per fixture, and I harvested a bucket every other week so a half pound a month, not enough for a commercial op but way more than I could smoke alone, lol.

Peace, SOG

i suggest you don't listen to crush, he only grows hard mode. cfl's are easy.
i don't know how much all of those measurements are in english but i assume you mean a micro environment with CFL? yes it will work and you can get good buds with cfl. just might need to take your buds a week or so later than with HPS, and you will need to train as cfl wont penetrate very deep unless you plan on sticking a bunch in a small space like cheesebuds or fuzz420.

i like a lot of people started with cfl, got good weed, nothing wrong with cfl you just gotta know it's limitations.

not the best picture, at all but this is the only one i can find from my CFL days, but you should be able to see enough and tell growing with CFL is not a waste of time. this was like 7 grams or so in a half gallon pot. i don't think i've ever pulled much less than 5 grams from any plant.

CFL blows... if you use CFL you get buds like this:

What you NEED to do is get yourself a 600w HPS and you can grow badass HARD MODE plants like this:

Yes and that plant gave me an ounce of these buds:

If you posted a video of you harvesting that plant and then putting it on a scale, I still wouldn't believe that it yielded an ounce.

Ummm.. the plant that was in the video was the LOWER popcorn bud. It's the first thing I say in the video. The upper cola's were all taken off a week earlier. I cut 2/3rds of the plant off already by the time I shot that video.

I said that I sprayed the bottom with colloidal silver to see what would happen.

don't take the state of some of the plants to be indicative of CFL, i was using miracle gro soil back then too and didn't have any equipment like ph meters or even know miracle gro was hot soil and theres nutrients missing from the ferts.
