I won't delve too far into my past growing resume, that really isn't a concern, I have learned much along the way...and am always open minded to new things... just get a lil perturbed with people who think that their flukes and flaws are set in stone to be applicable to all.... not so.
The only reason I pointed your statements out were because of the fact I've used Botanicare's Coco, (UNFLUSHED), (still using it btw) for YEARS, (oh, yes, I've used Canna's Coco as well) and have ALWAYS grown at least 10 different strains AT THE SAME TIME with MANY different nutes... only time I used nute supplements was when I got invited from Fox Farm to try out their new extended line a couple years ago... I've always been a "straight outta the bottle" believer, and didn't need to add all the extra bells and whistles to coax the plant to pop out another gram... I also went supplement crazy when I grew TLO for a spell.

I have no doubts what you're doing is working... but you don't think it could work better?
Let's say you have low ppm ground water, so you don't need the RO filter... and we're gonna say that you run low ppms all the time... So you don't necessarily need to run drip-clean...
What about silica? Where is that coming from? Cause coco doesn't have any.
DHF recommends using silica blast for this...
This coco, including botanicare, sits out in a yard in a huge pile until it's ready to be pressed. It's scooped up with a bulldozer. I have found straw, rocks, and BUGS in my coco, including BOTANICARE bricks. Flush a botanicare brick, and read the ppms. I DARE you....
Freds says to flush the brick hard, b/c those coconuts are floating around in the ocean! HELLO! lol... And if they weren't in the ocean, they were probably at least near it. Tropical storms will bring in the salt water... no worries...
Now, this coco is sitting out in the yard, providing a dark, damp, oxygen rich environment great for bugs to breed in... So I know the eggs are getting packaged up with the brick. Some eggs don't hatch until conditions are right... like when you hydrate the brick....
DHF recommends SM-90 with every feed b/c the oil is going to form a lipid capsule around the eggs, and they won't be able to hatch. The oil is going to suffocate all living organisms... It works as a surfactant, a wetting agent, so you can use less feed and keep the medium moist. It helps create nice healthy roots...
Then there's cal/mag... that's needed to replace what's taken out of the RO water... so I guess I don't need to touch on that...
So... When you have thin/floppy stems and bug issues... and plants that just aren't quite as healthy as they could be... And you're asking yourself why... You'll remember the guy you were so quick to discredit.

I usually hit, or get close to hitting the numbers some of you "elite" guys are aiming for...and mind you i'm not running cuts... 95% of my grows are from seed!
