Tips on how to help my clone

So maybe I'm doing fine, or maybe somethings can be improved. Maybe it's too late.

This was a first, sloppy attempt to try to take a clone...

About 10 days ago I cut a clone of a flowering Early Durban that I had to toss. I cut it and placed it in water. Then cut the stem and dipped in some clonex gel and placed the clone in a pre-soaked grodan block. Since I had no place for it, it stood in the propagator with no other light than some dim daylight from the window and with some tabwater (19 °dH) in the bottom.

2 days ago I placed it in a newly build cabinet with 24W CFL light (10000K) giving it 20/4. I rinsed the tray with some hydrogenperoxide and then with water.

The fan leafs is drying out a little and the tips are burned. I spray them every day and keep the holes in the propagator closed. I can see that there is some root action near the stem inside the grodan (Big white bulp), but no new growth on the plant.

The temperature is 27-28 °C inside the propagator.

So - should I just wait and see, or is there something I should do better or different?

to root a cut from a blooming plant can take 3-4 weeks depending on many variables. the longer the flowering plant was in its bloom cycle, the harder and longer it will be to clone.
if you are already seeing root activity, let the grodan cube dry out a bit. this should help spit some roots out as roots grow by searching for moisture.

Good. The grodan is not in water, since there is only a small amount of water in the bottom of the propagator. Ill just wait some weeks then...

looks like you were about 2 weeks into bloom when cutting this clone. If you are already seeing a fat white fuzzy, it should only be days before you see a root pop through the cube.

It was about 4 weeks into flowering when I cut the clone (On of the lowest sideshots). It was very slow to show sex and slow in flowering. Possible due to me moving it and mistreating it a little.

Just hold tight for another 4 days or so, and you'll see roots poking through the rockwool. Leave it for 4 after that and they'll be 4 to 6 inches long.

Lower the temps a bit if you can to about 24C. I would also trim those fan leafs to reduce transpiration....patience.

Stop spraying, just make sure the rockwool doesn't dry out... it will root, and then over the next few weeks should revert to veg growth. Stop spraying! the pistil are prone to rot, which significantly increases the odds of destroying the apical meristem.

So Mr Eckted nailed it. 4 days until roots would show:

And now I just wait? Or should I do something to help the plant with vegging?

Clones are very easy to make BUT not all plants like to be cloned and never clone at 4 weeks .. I use a blade for the cut just to keep it clean and I keep my blade clean. Unless your taking from a mom only take a few cuttings. Make your soil damp not wet but damp and use rooting gel to get started. Cover them with a lid and only spray them about 5 times a day and in 8 dayz you will have a clone.I had a hybrid once and the trick to cloning this hybrid was to diffuse the light with rice paper.. peace out Headband707

what are you going to transplant in? I would condition that media for a day before transplanting. do you have any root adds like roots excelurator, rapid start, supercharge, voodoo, etc? are you growing organically or with hydro ferts? I would also cut off the dead brown corners off the leaves. they won't heal. 1/4 strength bloom booster will help pop more roots to. PK often grows new shoots. hope that helps.

that is by far the nicest cloning try i have ever seen.... all we get are the flimsy throw away plastic shit....

The only thing i got in the propagator is plain tabwater.

Right now I am sterilizing some small leca nuts that I just dug out of a pile of ash and rocks... I'm putting it under and around the grodan to help get the roots out.

This clone is going into soil, since I'm making a mother plant of it. Its going to be kept under the same 24W CFL it's under now.

I 'm going to get some Biobizz lightmix monday.
