I came across a phenomenal womens diamond ring lying in a case, inside of a foreclosed home that I cleaned up. My job includes cleaning up foreclosed homes. people who don't pay their mortgages get evicted, and move out, often leaving behind lots of their stuff which is where I come into place... The bank (owner of the home) has to get these houses cleaned up so they can re=sell them. So they pay me to clean them up and let me just tell you something, it is an exxtremely lucrative business... I have 6 storage units full of washers/dryers/microwaves/ and all kinds of appliances and furniture and such... i also have an ebay power-seller account (that the wife runs)....

anyways recently I have just come across an extremely exquisite 18k white gold diamond ring. The house that it came out of is a 3 year old, 5k sqft house that sat on 15 acres of land. so the people who lived there had lots of money at some point and eventually lost it somehow.....

anyways, i always find ring cases often with no ring inside, but this time i literally think i hit the jackpot...

can anyone tell me the value of this ring???

i have no clue how to value rings. I am looking to get an idea of what I have here before i take it into a jewler to have them appraise it....

well i am going ape shit over here... i just spent a long time trying to figure out my piece of shit droid pro cell phone. i took a picture of the ring earlier today but am now in a hotel room and am unable to take another picture of the ring because it is not with me therefore i had to deal with what i had. anyways the phone i have BLOWS and i am unable to view the fullsize photo of the picture of the ring and i had to take a photo of the thumbnail sized gallery with my wifes phone and then use that picture.... sorry for sure a horrible photo, but if someone here can give me any sory of idea of the value of this ring that would be great.... i just want to know how many thousands it is worth... THANKS! it weighs 16 grams and is 18k white gold.... the white diamonds appear to be diamond chips, an the yellow heart diamonds are about the size of an eraser on a mechanical pencil...

any help appreciated!!!

hey.
I dont think you can get any real money for the diamonds, but the ring would be worth a little in its own gold weight.. :)

There should be a tiny stamp on the ring stating whether it is 18K or 24K.

If there is no stamp...that ring might as well be worth the 50 cents it cost to get it out of the vending machine... ;)

Forget getting an ideal here, no one can tell via the nets even if they are a subject matter expert. Awesome story though congrats. I suggest taking it to multiple jewelers for an appraisel. Good luck and let us know how it pans out.

Not think of returning to the rightful owner? Only 1 word comes to mind quite frankly, parasite.

come on now.these people choose to not pay their mortgages, then up and leave their home and leave a bunch of their belongings behind.there were countless other items left behind in this house - leather couches, flat screen televisions, desktop computers. TRUST ME, i highly doubt I am going to take the time out of my day to return their ring. often times we get homes that are of people who go missing and just do not pay mortgages, people who get locked up in jail and fail to have somebody handle their business.... with this situation tho, if these people actually cared about their materials, then im sure they would have taken the time to clean them up or sort through them. once again, i HIGHLY doubt ANYONE in my position would EVER even slightly consider returning ring. Now when we find important items such as social security cards, credit cards, important looking paperwork THEN we contact someone at the bank who THEN attempts to return it. Often times though these people run for the hills and duck and hide at the sign of a bank trying to get ahold of them.... which is the sad part...

nice one liner attempt tho big shot. you r soooo cool....how many rep points did you aim to collect with that one liner

and strainhunter, it is stamped with 18k...

dragon, why arent the diamonds worth anything??? i always thought diamonds were worth some cash?

It just looks like a cocktail ring. The diamonds are tiny. I doubt it's worth very much but have a jeweler look at it. A few hundred bucks maybe is my guess.

Only larger diamonds are worth anything. Someone who sells estate jewelry may give you a bit more than gold value but I doubt it.

Take it to a jeweler, They can test the diamonds to see if they are real, and can give you an approx value. If you take it to a pawnshop or gold buyer you will not get the current price per ounce for gold, they will give you a price for what is called scrap gold, and thats a bunch less than the per ounce price, plus they won't give you anything for the stones.

it should be worth at least a blowjob. that's probably all the original wearer paid.

Diamonds are worth *some* cash, but not much.
Diamonds are not rare, prices are kept up artificially mostly by a large consortium called De Beers.

Gold is the world wide choice of international "currency".
If you can't pay for something with cash, Gold will always work, no matter where you are, Diamonds won't.

I could explain the above a more professional way but that's what I basically boils down to. Hence not much value to Diamonds, especially not from private sellers.

PS: The only "multiple jewelers" in this thread seem to be the ones bickering about your business, they ain't got a clue how things work but still think they should post *something*. ;)

Hundreds of thousands of American home owners are walking away/have walked away from underwater homes and are taking strategic bankruptcies. OP, take it to multiple jewelers and gold buyers, my guess is that you will get at least 500 for it and you might want to remove the large diamond and sell that on its own to a jeweler. Actually sounds like a pretty cool job though I don't know if you are going to make money on those appliances if you are paying to store them. A house flipper could make use of them to furnish houses for sale or rent but house flippers are few and far between these days as the resale market is gone. Renting is the way to go it seems, or keep the assets liquid. Curious, how did you get into doing this? I have been unemployed for a while and I have actually done the same work before while working for a house flipper.
