So I have used individual 5-gallon DWC buckets pretty extensively in the last 2 years and at this point I have a bunch of them laying around, really more than I want. They do come in handy though. They're quick and easy for doing a dirty job rather simply. Although my last 2 major runs were on a ebb&flow table and coco with drippers, I still break out the DWC buckets for random stuff. One of those things has been early vegging. What I'll do is take clones from my bubble cloners and put them into what I call my 9-site lids, a 5-gallon bucket lid that has 9 holes for small netpots. I usually use hydroton and shredded rapid rooters to hold them in the netpots.

So I had 2 of these running a while back. I took all the good looking girls out of one of them and put those in their own buckets to go flower, which they're almost done with now. At that point I didn't really have anything to do with the other bucket, so I just left the other ones in the bucket. As expected, the roots began to grow together. I didn't sweat it, it would just be clone bait. So over time I took around 40 more clones off that mess of plants stuck together. I figured when I took a bunch off it would be bare and I'd just kill it, but every time it filled up all my open clone spots and still had a pretty lush canopy. Over time my level of caring about this thing goes down. I really don't check the pH on it that much, I have no idea when I changed nutes, don't really prune it or even look at it very often. Whatever.

Well now I am kind of in between big runs, and I have a bunch of space and lights to work with and nothing to do for a while while my other clones start rooting and I'm vegging some other stuff and just generally trying to figure out how I'm going to setup the next run. For fun I decided to flower this mess of plants. I kind of though it wouldn't even be alive right now. I don't really have anything to lose, so why not? Worst case scenario is that I waste maybe $15 in nutes at the most and get some mild sugar trim. I'm not expecting anything so I really can't be disappointed.

It's just passed the 2-week flowering mark and here's what they look like:

Ignore the plant in the upper right, that is totally different:

Beautiful roots... whatever!:

So that's the beauty. What do you guys think!?

I made a poll just for fun. Just to be clear my intentions are not counting my chickens before they hatch like these kinds of questions usually are, this is purely for entertainment. I don't care what comes out of this mess. This is really my first just for fun project in growing, so I wanted to share it.

Other random info:
Veg Time: Unknown, didn't really care
Nutes: Botanicare Line, including Liquid Karma and Hydroplex
Light: 1000w HPS, currently running at full 1000 watts
Number of Plants in there: 5
If the roots had an STD what would it be: Genital Warts

I think they can survive too!
I've abused my clones into a horrible extended veg in soil and their as tough as nails! To much feed,no feed,no water,to much water...mites,yellow spots everywhere, sprays that turned leaf tips seriously black, yellow leaves, brown crumply leaves, and they keep recovering!
I'm beginning to believe I'm the Sade de Marquis

You can do it, don't give up on em! Hell they'll stretch nicely into some tree's if you take care of em. Take some of the lower branches off and force that growth to the tops.

Good luck, Peace

it's not a lost cause yet mate! you probably just spiced up your water too much which usually is any growers first mistake. refill it with clean, low ppm water and they should bounce back right away! look up something called root rot

Keep it flowering, enjoy the bounty...

And that poll really coulda used a "bacon" option - just sayin'...

Well, they're still alive. I can just start to see the buds barely beginning to flower out. I think because of how much I took clones of the mess there's a lot of bud sites. I don't think I've ever had such a tight concentration of bud sites on anything else.

I have changed the nutes twice since flowering. pH has been adjusted a few times. Not quite the loving attention that I show all my other girls, but I have given them some.

It's actually about time to change the nutes again. I've recently upped my computer and information security procedures. As soon as I figure out the best and most secure way to take, upload and erase photos I'll post some new ones.
