Decided to go vert!!

Well I have decided to finally convert my sealed room with vented hoods into a bare bulb vert passive air intake room.
The room is 7x8x8 with 2-1k hps bulbs, 8k btu window a/c and a 45 pint dehuey.
I have a 6" Can fan and a 6" Max fan. Will these two fans be enough for exchanging the air in the room 2x ?
This room is built inside another room which is cooled by the house a/c. Can I use the vent in the floor to cool the grow room? Or at least use it to assist in cooling the room?
Thanks

when your using a hood heat builds up and is focused down, with the verts, it just dissipates, think there cooler without a hood

Air exchange is one of the keys of vertical growing, you need to figure out if your exchanging your air 2 times per minute, check Anti's thread for more technical explanation of this, he is really good at explaining air exchange. as far as overall environmental control of a vertical grow, I would direct you to the sticky at the top of this section, also Laylows and Bobbleheads threads are a WEALTH OF information, they stickied Laylows thread because someone thought he had a clue.....LOL.....JUST KIDDING MY BROTHER FROM THE OTHER side of the Atlantic. Feel free to look at my thread, I have a 8 x 10 room running a 3 shelf stadium and 3200 watts of lumens, I run A unsealed room with only a 450cfm intake fan but have a 1150cfm exhaust fan with a scrubber that can handle 1400cfm, I exchange my air probably more than 2 times a minute BUT I now have zero PM and killer buds. My last run I didn't even get to 1.0Gpw, BUT once my work situation gets stabilized My partner and I are going to build the Bobblepods v2 you can check out in his thread, I feel he is going to pull 6-7 lbs per pod EASILY, currently I am pulling just under 5 lbs.

good luck their is all the information you need here in these threads.....I literally read for 3 months before I tore down my horizontal grow and my learning curve was still VERY steep and I made a butt load of mistakes.

Good luck!

so exchanging the air in grow room can be done with both the 6" fans I have. one for intake and one for exhaust.
or should i just install a large air filter in wall of grow room and let the exhaust fan exchange the air in grow room thru the air filter in wall?

a 6in extractor above each 1k hps may be adequate if your ambients are peace. ive vented 2k hps bare with a 8in vortex in a cool cannacave !! peace homies

Yes, you have enough fan power... and yes, you can use the central air, why not? Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Thanks Bobblehead. :tiphat:
-Does it matter which fan should do the exhaust or intake duties? I have a 6" HO CanFan and the 6" Max fan.
-I will take advantage of the central air and cut the panda film and the foam mat (floor covering) and slip the vent cover back over the vent. The room I built inside bedroom sits on top of the central air floor vent so this will work great. It's in the corner of the room.

If these fans and the central air can keep the room under control than I can stop using a/c and dehuey and be able to have the 2 1k bulbs with an additional 600 under each 1k.
Should I do a 6' weed donut or use the squareness of the framed room?
I marked the floor out with a 6' circle and traced my 14" saucers(soil grower) around the 6' circle and can put about 12-14 10 gallon pots(back to back). I will be using netting also so I have some 3/4" plywood that I could trace a 4' or 5' circle on and cut it out with a jigsaw and hang from ceiling to hang trellis netting from. Or should I split it into 2-5x5 rooms?lol

Keep the window A/C. Overkill is underrated. You don't wanna take it out, just to find that you need it and have to put it back in. Set it to come on at 75-80F. Hopefully the central air does the job, but if it doesn't, you have a backup plan ready to go.

whichever fan moves more air should probably be used for the exhaust.

If you're doing plants on the floor, I think you should do 2 5x5 rooms, flip flopped. I need extra space for my racks... If you have plants growing straight up, a 5x5 area is good...

I'm sure w/e you do it'll turn out great.

Thanks for the fan placement recommendation.......If I did the 5x5 rooms I would have 2 different environments to control, which means more watts which means more $........I will stick with what I have for now. But 2 5x5's will be built soon.
I'm undecided about either doing a weed donut or a stadium?

well...........I did it!!!!!!.........I am officially heading down the road of vertical happiness!
I removed 2 6" MagnumXXXL's with 1k Hortilux Super HPS's and hung them bare, stacked,in the center of room. Just finished hanging them before lights out this morning. Will have some pic's late tonight. Is it suppose to be much brighter? lol.

I have not installed fans for passive intake yet cuz I have some questions first.
-Do I install one fan down low by the floor for intake and than the next fan up high for exhaust?
OR
-Do I install both fans side by side up high on wall and than cut out an intake in wall? Also will each fan need its own carbon filter OR can I "Y" the fans into a single into the carbon filter?

CanFan 6" HO-440cfm
CanFan 6" Max-334cfm
Thanks
