Since you guys seem to think Ed Rosenthal is the know all be all of cannabis growing (he's not) here's what he says about CO2 and temp.

TEMPERATURE
Proper temperature is one highly variable factor. Most books state optimum grow temperature to be 70-80 degrees, but many list extenuating circumstances that allow temperatures to go higher. Assuming genetics is not a factor, marijuana plants seem to be able to absorb more light at higher temps, perhaps up to 90 degrees. High light and CO2 levels could make this go as high as 95 degrees for increased marijuana growth speed.* An optimum of 95 degrees is new data that assumes very-high light, CO2 enrichment of 1500 ppm and good regular venting to keep humidity down. It is not clear if these temperature will reduce potency in flowers. 1991 Edited by E. Rosenthal.

So unless you have "PROOF" that it does affect potency, I would have to say this pretty much closes the door on this subject. So keep neg repping me if you want, I'm the only one who has backed up his claims. :thank you:

dunno, running a few strains now, seem to be lacking in potency too.

funny thing, lots lower temps now than the last time when the potency was higher (same strains)

the temps now are about 75-80, were 85-95f last time.

mostly indica varieties.

I have no trouble with heat in my outdoor experience as long as I have ample moisture.

Heat does seem deleterious inside.

fuck ed rosenthal

i have experienced this , the lamp was at the right distance but temps got too high and the buds where less sticky , less potent , less smelly then normal , that is what high temps do indoors

thats why i dont do indoor anymore under hps in summer

My 2 cents.

Some strains need more full spectrum lights to get the desired effect. My Mandala #1 was a different beast when it was allowed to finish outside under that big full spectum light that hangs in the sky sometimes. It's a much more bland smoke when it was grown under only HPS.

And the temp issue - well im sure the buds close to the bulb would be weaker, but they'd also look worse for the temps - less trichs, unhealthy growth, bleaching - etc. If the buds that weren't in the heat zone look fine, but the smoke is weak, then it's down to genetics / a non-desirable cannabanoid profile. I've had it a few times.
