Been taking the em-1 probiotics, and about to start using the regular em-1 in the garden.
This is some exciting stuff, the probiotics seem to be working great so far.
Seems this stuff has so many uses.

I would love to hear from the em users

If you haven't heard of it, its effective micro organisms ( the label lists lactobacillus casei, but the web site says there is a wide variety of benificial organisms. I think over 70?

if you brew it with grape juice concentrate substituted 1:1 for molasses, you get a very nice taste after about 3 months

sarcasm? what?? plants?

I'm talking about taking it orally as probiotic, as the OP is doing. It cleans up your breath and helps you have some very beautiful turds that would make any chinese medicine practitioner jealous.

EM is good for your gut.

Normally it's brewed with molasses, but there are some alternative recipes for all sorts of purposes. For human consumption you just follow food safety standards and it's fine to drink. About a shot glass a day, swished, gargled, and swallowed will make you feel about as good as if you drank kefir or kombucha.

For gardening, I use it to clear up backlogs of organic material. I don't use it on established plants much, unless I make a mistake and stink up the soil.

lol I don't know about that top dressing, but taking a probiotic regularly is a very good idea. this needs no refrigeration and you don't need to take much, so it is pretty efficient.

make sure you check out Jay's lactobacillus thread if you develop an interest in indigenous microbes

Will do. I also seem to remember Coot saying something about using the product in bokashi... I'll have to look for it.

I know right! The nerve of some people.

All joking aside, you always provide some good info.

Interested to hear other benefits of this product that others are getting.

Hey mad whats up,good to see u here. did you get siddartha, its a great book?!
Havent brushed with it but it does make my stomach feel 15 again.

Hey overkiller, I'm taking the em-1 probiotic cleanse internally, and I have a bottle of em-1 for plants too. slightly different products.

Just hoping the em1 for plants works as good as the one I take, If It does the girls will be so happy!

It can be stretched if it is activated with 1 part em1, 1 part mollasses, 20 parts water, not sure about the rest but it involves an airlock.
It is alive already, and activating it just gives you more for your money.

It is also a nitrogen fixer, and can make teas and organic nutes more available, supposed to remediate soil by eating away salt buildup. so much more too!

can remove pet stains from carpet and help wash your clothes too!

Has anyone tried the ceramics sold by teraganix that remove chlorine and pollutants?
These can be cleaned with em1, and it can replace bleach to clean airstones, supposed to keep irrigation lines clean too.

maybe an organic solution to keep blumats clean instead of drip clean?

I've made AEM (Activated EM-1) and then used it as a spray in my chicken/turkey coops. It accelerates the breakdown of the manure and knocks down the smell almost completely.

I've also used it to inoculate CRH (carbonized rice husks/hulls) and then used it to sprinkle into the litter in the coops. The inoculated CRH stays active for quite a while and keeps our coops from smelling foul. You can achieve the same results with sprinkling Bokashi bran on the floor of the coop.

I'll post some bits and pieces of info:

The secret to EM's widespread success is its capacity to remove harmful toxins and restore regenerative balance to its environment - whether it be on the soil, plant, animal, or human levels

thanks for sharing that B.D

Mad do you eat the agricultural em?

presently no, but I did in the past use it as a mother culture for a probiotic brew according to vinnie pinto's recipes., before it was a big deal. no harm came to pass. as long as the pH is very low, like OJ, or so i was told.

Probably going to get a gal for testing against outdoor molds. bacterial spot, mildews & botrytis are big problems.

it would be a nice bonus if the stuff can be given to animals & myself, need to look into it more.

TF,

I think it was Microbeman that posted somewhere that he has fed his dogs EM-1 for years as well as taking it himself. He has some 16 y.o. Great Dane/and I think Mastiff mixes that are still in great health.

He has a thread here somewhere of the EM brew he makes for his own pro biotic that explains how to make it.........maybe if he sees this he can find the link.

We feed EM-1 to our poultry as well as Bokashi bran. There is a lot of info on the web about EM-1 and human/animal health.

cheers,
