Talk About A Slap In The Face

Sometimes you vote against the other candidate. Do you people think McCain/Palin would have been a better choice?

Personally, I like Obama. He's compromises too much, I think, but he's going in the right direction for the country.

Who's going to go against him in 2012? Romney? Bachman? Palin?

Please.

I agree. But we all know he couldn't do that if he wanted to. And even if he did, the States would still have their laws against cannabis.

He said he would leave it up to the States to decide their MM laws, and unless other laws were broken the Feds would back off. And that's all he promised. And from what I see he did that. I'm having a hard time remembering another Pres that did that..... It may have only been a small step. But at least it was in the right direction.....

How about you simply elect a candidate of your choosing without succumbing to the fallacy of the two party system? I mean, you're really limiting your choices by choosing one or the other.

What about all the other parties out there?

Why not simply be an independent voter and vote your own mind all the time, instead of looking for a group to join and going along with the herd?

"The two real political parties in America are the Winners and the Losers. The people don't acknowledge this. They claim membership in two imaginary parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, instead." - Kurt Vonnegut

When asked what the point of his writing career has been, Kurt said, "catch people before they become generals and presidents and so forth and poison their minds with humanity."

Yeesh. We're faced with such a shitty election that Obama remains the best choice in my book despite being way too conservative for my liking and completely contrary to my personal beliefs on drug policy. Basically we have Obama (the conservative choice), the Republicans (the DASGC/phony conservative choice), the tea party (another DASGC choice but also racist and they manage to bam the lies and hypocrisy up a notch compared to the Republicans- an impressive feat), and Ron Paul. Sorry to say it but while Paul is the only correct pick when it comes to drug policy his desire to return to the gold standard simply won't work, nor would massive deregulation. The short and dirty version is the world needs to be either all fiat or all gold, a mixed system leads to investors exploiting the exchange rates by trading to other countries to take their money. We have enough of billionaires exploiting the system already, it's called oil speculation and the bonds market. The former is the sole reason you've ever paid over $1.50/gallon for gas in your life if you're American, and the latter dwarfs the stock market, caused the '08 crash and was allowed by late Clinton-era deregulations. Hell at this point I might end up voting for Paul just out of the theory of accelerationism.

ok but then those parties need to nominate somone to be on the rep/dem/ind ballot .
the onlyway for somone(you and me) to nominate who they want is to be of the same party, and then the party needs to nominate him ,then thepopular vote is always misconstrude by some as the vote that counts ,its the ellectoral vote that counts and who those ellectorate voters are is a mystery to me.

so it starts with getting him on the republican ballot.

Nice. Tradition is just a coded way of saying you're doing something because it's always been done that way and screw logic and reason so ol' Ben can bugger off.

Though not as well as dollars, gold does fit the medium of exchange/unit of account/store of value definition of money. What I find especially sad about the value of gold these days is it's skyrocketed under the racist "that nigger President Obama's going to murder the country and our dollars will be useless thanks to his evil monkey brain" line of thought. I wouldn't mind seeing an all-gold world again, it's just that the modern Keynesian global economy has become too necessary to make that happen. We didn't switch to fiat because we wanted to. We just had to.

Edit: every coin denomination you get a dime and up, check the date. 1964 and prior means it's silver. I bought a roll of half-dollars at the bank and got more than the value of the roll back thanks to a 1964 Kennedy in there.

throwing a switch every four years and calling it your civic duty fulfilled is fucking delusional. that said, if you're reading this, there's a good chance you're already resisting.

Afraid I don't have that, I was going by the definition of money according to economics. Wikipedia's dead-on about the three-pronged definition you'd learn in Economics 101. A quick search however reveals Paul himself said the government has no definition for a dollar. I can't yet vouch for the veracity of that but he doesn't lie very often.

Over the past few elections I've gone from:
"The lesser of two evils is still evil"- voted for Nader, twice.

to:
"A lesser evil is still less evil"- voted for Obama once, and will probably end up doing it again in 2012.

Obusha on the campaign trail...
""I think that we need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws."
Obusha as president
"I do not support decriminalization"

The raids continue (regardless of compliance with state law) and the newest tactic is to bully state lawmakers with threats of cut funding if the inaction medical or recreational measures....

That is not a step forward

Just more of the same. Or even a step backwards!

it's just that the modern Keynesian global economy has become too necessary to make that happen. We didn't switch to fiat because we wanted to. We just had to.
The Keynesian can kicking fiat junkie party may just be about over. The music has stopped. Some people are still dancing around, but many are starting to leave. Especially the Europeans. When Elvis leaves the building I'll call the party dead.

Change you can believe in!
