Hey all,

I just picked up a used growbox kit for a great deal!

The seller has told me that it is the exact same model as this years, except without the LED's.
The item I'm selling is last years model. There are only two differences between this year and last years model. First is color. Last year's model is white. 2nd is bulb type. Last year was CFL, this year is LED. Again, the item I'm selling is brand new, never opened, but it is last year's model.

here is the website - http://www.pcgrowcase.com/growbox.htm

I am pumped to have it delivered next week however Im looking for help figuring out a few things.

1. The listing states:
*2700k CFL bulbs and 26w 6500k bulbs Grow lights provides better light intensity than 400w hps
* Total lumen output is approximately 30,000
How many lightbulbs should i be expecting? I think they include enough to swap out the lights with cool during veg and warm durring flower, but im not sure - Any ideas?

2. In an email he tells me that:
Another added plus for you is I had the manufacturer do a custom installation of an odor sock to be sure there will be no smell.
Once again, i am unsure exactly what this would be HELP!

I trust that it will be a great setup and cannot wait for it to arrive - just trying to understand exactly what i am getting.

Thanks all!

Alright, so i learned that the (4) CFL's are dual spectrum (2700k and 6500K)

Does anyone have experience with these? how well do they work?

Also learned that odor sock is a brand of "carbon filter" wanabe... not sure how well it will work. if people have experience i would love to hear about it!

THANKS!

I've vegged with 42w CFL's, but never flowered. I have no idea how well that would work. I don't think it would be too bad if you kept the canopy depth to a minimum, like scrogging it or something.

If odor is an issue I would consider upgrading to a small 4" scrubber with matching 4" in-line fan. If noise is an issue you can turn it down with a variac (variable autotransformer) or a fan speed controller. I recommend the former.

You can definitely flower with that setup. Don't expect very much in terms of yeild, but it should work just fine.

Thank you all for your comments.

I am hoping to setup a Scrog setup - im using bag seed for my first run and i just ordered some Snow White and Northern Lights for the next go around.

Any suggestions on this? Everything i read says to only do Scrog when using fem seeds or clones, since in mass there is no way i can get clones, and fem seeds are too expensive. i am planning on just cutting out the males as i find them. Will this work?

Thanks all in advance!!! :)

You don't want to be cutting males out of your scrog screen, especially if you're new. Either bite the bullet and buy the Fem seeds or use mother plants.

What you want to do is plant and grow your seeds, and as soon as they're big enough, take cuttings. Root the cuttings, and throw them straight into flower (12/12). Make sure you label them properly so you know which cutting came from which mother.

Once you can tell the sex of the clones, go and get rid of the "mother" plants that turned out to be male. From there all you need to do is cut some clones from the remaining female mothers and root them.

It takes a little while longer to get started, but saves you a TON of time in the long run. No waiting for seeds to grow every time. Just pop in your guaranteed female clones whenever you want.
