Portable A/C or Window A/C

I'm planning on adding a A/C unit into my room. I'm gonna be increasing from 2k to 4k and since it's summer I'm definitely going to need a A/C unit. First off I don't know much about A/C units and how to work it into a room, I'm a beginner. I have 2 options, a portable A/C unit or a Window mounted united that I can use. Issue is my OP is in a shed so I'm nervous to put a window mounted unit because of the smell leaking outside. I'm also not sure about using the portable A/C unit because I don't know where I would duct out the heat.

Anyone have suggestions or how I could do this? I would much rather use the portable just because it seems a lot easier to just set up in the room, I just need to know if anyone has an ideas about how I should feed all the hot air blowing from the unit out without smelling.

The shed is separated by 3 rooms, 1 is currently open until I set up that room for future use.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Potable AC are extremely inefficient. If you choose one it needs to be as close to the exhaust point as possible. The exhaust hose gets extremely hot so hot that you can not keep your hand on it. I have one I did not have a window close buy so I had to extend the hose you can not do this without adding a in line to help exhaust the hot air. The unit will shut off if it overheats. If the unit is in the same room you are fighting a losing battle since the hose is hot you trying to cool the room as the hose is heating it. I would not but another one for growing. Get a window unit that is sized properly for the room your using is what you need or a mini split.

There is no Portable capable of cooling 4k let alone 2k. Mine is a 12kbtu unit and it will cool a 5x5 with 2 600 to 78f.

most portables are only a single hose design and if this is the case the portable WILL pull stinky air out of the grow room. besides that, portables have a hard time battling with hid's. i would definitely opt for the window unit if you can find a way to make it stealthy.

A window unit doesn't leak much air out. It recycles the air in the room. Single hose portables vent indoor air out. Nothing suspicious about a window AC hanging out of a shed.

I am loving my fridgidaire portables, but they only go so far, getting me by is good enough. I am venting one into the next room, which is just storage, but that room is about 100f most of the day. I am not getting any smell from that, neither did I when I did it outside, but I think that is because my scrubber works real well. If you need extension cords, use extra heavy ones, the portable heats the plug up pretty hot on the right gauge cord.

Mine served its purpose well for the old setup. Now I cant use it completly diferant setup. I was using some of that Metal extension hose on mine and it got so hot it would deform the panda film. I never measured the temp on it but it was at least 140f.

i have been debating getting a portable all summer, because i live in a 2 bedroom apartment with a 400w wardrobe grow, and we aren't allowed to add window units, the one ac unit the place came with is in the living room, the farthest room from my cab, with a "C" shaped hallway separating them. it's a huge pain to keep my cab at 85 in the summer even though i only have a hundred watts of florescent on my moms right now, and my hid turned off till night temps go under 70, even with the ac running full bore in the living room and 2 box fans pushing the air down the hallway into the bedroom....needless to say it would be impossible to keep temps in check with my hps on.

so i could in theory have the portable within a foot of the window, it just can't be in the window itself or visible from the window, though i think i could hide a vent hose...how far is too far to stretch it? it's too late for this year but next summer it could make an extra harvest possible...

also dude, you might want to be careful about putting a window unit in a shed...i mean that would look pretty odd...who cools down their lawn care equipment and old boxes of vhs tapes? my buddy stopped growing this summer because his neighbor was asking about why he had one in his garage window, running all day. i guess because it wasn't attached to his house and nobody was seen doing anything but parking cars in there it raised a few eyebrows...
