Rysams Reefer 2011

R

Rysam

So begins another season in the Nor-Cal sunshine.

Each hole is reused from last year, approximately 3'wide by 2' ft deep filled with "city" compost perlite, coir, bagsoil, and peat. This year I added 20+ gallons (4-5 buckets)of well composted horse/farm critter poo, 2 buckets of primo "home" compost, Earth Juice 'Rainbow Mix' Bloom powder, `Down to earth' brand Cottonseed meal, DTE Kelp meal, and DTE seabird guano.
There are 7 holes although I may only use 6.. still deciding.

Its been sitting for several weeks, rained on heavily, and I'm probably going to plant mid next week.

I still need to do some re-organizing of my mess, run new pvc water line so I dont have to use 200' of hose to fill my barrel, kill some poison oak, and watch em grow!

The strains Im doing this year are HA OG, should have some Blue goo this weekend, and Dutchgrown has been kind enough to gift me some DTC99 seeds so when they get here they will be added. Its a bit late for seeds I know, but shit happens.

anyways heres some pics..

I just picked these up from a buddy. Both are proven 5lb+ plants( I highly doubt i'll come close this year). It cost me one of the OG's though, variety is a bitch.

this one is an AfGoo.

Finals are over tuesday morn. and they will all be in the dirt by lunch.

I wish I had that field in the background to grow in, life would be so much easier.

Hey Rysam,

Looks like you're off to a great start. Those cuttings of yours in the white pots look nice and healthy, they should give you monsters at the end of the season.

How are you coping with the rats so far? Using a fence with smaller holes around the main trunk could help, just remember to leave enough space for the trunk to grow!

And how do you manage to keep the cats in place?

This is the only way I found

Thanks GD & Browser!

the rats hopefully have been reduced by the collection of cats we have, up to 6 now I think. Im still going to make a cage of sorts from 1/2" mesh and be generous with the rat traps.

The cats get food too,the rats are just a bonus. :)

My first time personally growing it but I've been around this particular strain quite a bit.

In 99% sure this is it.

I surely could have used goats last year! Poison Oak sucks ass. Its just at a maintenance level now, a few chops with the shovel and life is good again. I like it around the edges though, it helps keep the deer and rippers out.

I forgot to mention that we have water onsite now, no more hoses and buckets. life is good. I should be plugging them tomorrow if all goes well, if not wednesday morning is it.

Its finally stopped raining here a couple days ago so I was able to make it up for an inspection and everyone is growing madly. some have already shot up over a foot. Im mucho happy, gonna blow last year outta the water.

Still waiting on them DTC99 seeds though. Its been a month and counting..

Pics soon.

Forgot the camera like a dumbass, but we finished planting today and most everything is done except plumbing the drippers. Im watering with a hose for now.

I acquired a couple more plants from my buddy up the hill, an OG thats different than the others and another AfGoo.

Looks like he had a labeling mishap though and his guess at the first AfGoo was wrong so it goes into the unknown category. This new one was labeled and is clearly different than the last. You'll see why when I get some pics up. maybe manana.
Im not worried, the now unknown is still one of several good strains.

Everything else has easily doubled. Im happy.

Thanks Joe, I'm hoping for a good run.

Alright made it to the garden for some updates.

HA OG in the front, BlueGoo in the back.

Cool purple stem on the real AfGoo.

Its hard to see the smaller plants, the 3 HA OG's catch the eye instead. but theres 7 up there now. That should replenish the supply for the winter.

I still need to break out the ladder and chainsaw to prune an overhanging Oak, but its really not too bad, the pics look darker than it is. whaddya expect from a cellphone?

I gotta get off my ass and get them trees trimmed.

Rysam

The girlies filled out nicely this last week. I chopped down one of the trees that was blocking a few hrs sun. Im sure that helped. They've been getting the hose every 3 days and will get some molasses, protekt, and a spray for bugs this weekend with Monterey Spinosad spray. I should be doing it sooner but its just too damn hot to be climbing up and down the hill.

A Romulan male I picked up to play with. I've never attempted anything with seedmaking, so I figured why not. I'm tapping the stem and scraping the mirror at the end of the day and so far have a nice little pile of pollen drying on wax paper on top of the fridge. As soon as buds start to appear Im gonna hit a few branches and hope for the best. It did come at a cost though, the guy that gave it to me popped a 10 pack from somewhere and got 8 males. I felt bad so I dug up the little OG and gave that to him along with the rest of my HA cuts in trade.
Leaving me nice and under the radar with 6.

Its so nice to be doing this just for me. I have no desire to go commercial, or "maximize" production by sacrificing quality. Clean, tasty herb is the only goal. If I have enough herb to carry me and mine through the dry season then Its a success.

Still growing well. No major changes or hiccups.

looks to me like these are the same so it moves the unknown into the AfGoo name.
