love the background..

the name, northern lights.. little played out

looks like you have some talent, but this is not a piece for me.

I suggest you play with colors, and try messing around some more..

can I ask, what do you normally paint? as you seem like you could end up doing some cool art.

all in all, pretty amazing

good stuff man

I don't want to be mean - cause I know nothing about art...

I wouldn't pay anything, but I wouldn't buy anything someone painted and sold on ebay.

Seedbay, maybe - I did bid on a few DoobieDuck pics, 'cause I respect the cause, and he donated, not sold for himself...

if i baught a painting, hand painted, not reproduced, i'd probably give $10 -$20 for it. and that would include shipping. out of curiosity, would there be a certificate of authenticity included?

well I could conceivably pay like $20 for something like that if not in a money pinch right now. I do think it is very cool regardless

do a bunch of bud and plant porn then get to a couple of west coast cannabis gatherings to peddle your wares and maybe finance the trip.......

You're going about it all wrong my brotha.....you don't ask folks what they WANT to pay....let the cretins on Ebay fight each other to the death for it.
In addition to that, you ask for a ridiculous amount of money and then folks will flock to it. You need some fantastical hype like you're a sought after artist that just died and the value of your vast artistic collection has just increased 100x.
Plus I wouldn't tell a single mofo what it was....art is completely and totally subjective....most folks are just full of shit anyway when critiquing it. Someone may pull a Rorschach and think it's a hammock or the second coming of Christ or whatever. Now you've got the entire artistic community in the pool for purchase and not just a few stoners with discretionary income.
That's the ticket!

DJ,

Cool, how long did it take to paint?

Feedback:

I would have used a smaller brush to paint the stars, to create smaller rounder circles, more so in the black background of the sky, (sharper pin points of light). Many of the stars are oval shape. I think the less distinct stars in the blue background of the sky work fine. Hmm..add a small amount of yellow to the stars.

You outlined the big bud in a blue color. Do you think adding a thin line of a little purple, light purple, Or just a purple / blue line instead of the blue to make it pop a bit would work?

I would have made the cityscape a bit more distinct (shapes and sizes of buildings) maybe some artifiical light from the city lights. Small amount of contrasting colors in the city buildings to draw them out, but obviously not too much to take away from the subject. Artificial light from the streets giving you some brown or dark tans to work with,....???

I would have curved (subtle or slight) the "coast line" of the city towards the bud starting from generally the outer lower side of your painting towards the subject, to pull your eye towards it, to create more eye movement, compliment the lines you painted in the sky and finally a slight curve of the cityscape would allow you to paint a bit of depth into the city.

The bud looks like a pine tree with MJ leaves. Narrow it on the bottom, or paint lower buds in on the bottom part with a stem and a bud from a lower branch to help balance it maybe. Ya know two smaller buds with staggered nodes maybe. Again, creating some contrast (this time in size) to get the viewer's eyes to move around the bottom of the picture.

Maybe, contrast the cityscape on the other side of the bud with a small mountain, hill & woods.

Finally, where did all the hairs go on the bud? Did someone run it through a tumbler to make hash or what? (joke) A smudge more hairs on it..?

Paint my SR-71 jet scraping the sky at Mach 3.0! LoL

With all that in mind I would pay $30 to $50 bucks.

I hope you appreciate my feedback, find it helpful and possibly incorporate it.

You have talent.

I like how you use the lines in the sky and how they contrast the city and bud. I like the colors of the sky and bud.

nice job man! What could really corner the market would be high quality lithographs of drawings or paintings of buds n plants. Make each one like a limited edition of 100.

Thanks WW you got deep on me!, I took me like 3hrs to paint including a smoke break ;)
I will take your feedback into consideration, always willing to learn new techniques. First time drawing cannabis!
I do believe there is a market for this type of art, and the more it becomes more accepted by people the more I see people hanging stuff like this on walls!

Thanks again to all for checking it out!....

As an artist, the biggest piece of advice I can give you is not to sell yourself short; when you allow yourself to be sold short, you are allowing people to basically walk all over you and strip you of your actual worth as an artist. Your time, supplies, and ideas are all valuable, and selling your effort for 10$ to 20$ for a painting is just not worth it. If you go by minimum wage in California, you should be getting a minimum of 24$, not including supplies or shipping...anything less is just not worth it; remember that you won't ever get those three hours back, and 10$ is just not worth 3 hours [in my honest opinion].

In other news, I really admire the movement and boldness of your work, and also the details with the trichies and pistils. :} Good luck selling this beauty! I hope she goes to someone who loves her!

EDIT: if this is a bit redundant, I apologize; a bit medicated currently. Whoo-wee.

cant believe nobody mentioned the security aspect, hopefully your in a med state, be careful telling everyone your listing on ebay when you have potentially incriminating posts/pics
