I always get caught up in the hype of a fight, then the fight starts and I'm bored out of my mind. I don't train MMA, so I guess it's just like all things you don't really understand. Most of a UFC fight resembles a kind of mock gay sex act to my untrained eye.

Nonetheless, I'm pumped for tonight. Fedor is such a compelling character. I hope he wins and his legend grows.

i am SO EXCITED for this fight..... how long has it been since fedor fought a smaller opponent? although Henderson is no joke, i fully expect fedor to destroy him or pick him apart.

Henderson has never been knocked out.

5 Reasons To Watch Strikeforce "Fedor vs. Henderson"

5. This could be one of Strikeforce’s last mega-cards.

With much of the internet still reeling from the news of Alistair Overeem’s departure, and with both Fedor and Henderson rumored to be walking from Strikeforce if they lose this fight or even if they win, this just might be the beginning of the end for Strikeforce. Luckily, this event is packed with stars. As the roster continues to get whittled down, that’s going to cause Strikeforce to spread out more of their bonafide stars in order to make individual shows more appealing. “Fedor vs. Henderson” is an interesting mix of veterans, legends, prospects, and championships… and it may be one of the last of its kind.

4. The winners of the two Welterweight fights will likely face each other for the vacant championship.

With Nick Diaz leaving for the UFC and leaving the Strikeforce Welterweight Championship behind, you have to think that this is the only path to take that makes sense. So, with that said, that should motivate all four men (Paul Daley, Tyron Woodley, Scott Smith, and Tarec Saffiedine) to come out guns blazing and looking to assert themselves in the post-Diaz era of Strikeforce Welterweights. And that should make their fights even more exciting.

3. The winner of the Middleweight fight gets to rematch Ronaldo Souza.

Robbie Lawler and Tim Kennedy are two very different fighters that posed two very different threats to Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Ronaldo Souza. Even though he beat them both, both Lawler and Kennedy are top-division fighters and it only makes sense to put them against each other with the winner getting a rematch against “Jacare”. This is an interesting fight that could end in many different ways, so it’s definitely worth watching.

2. Marloes Coenen and Meisha Tate will more than likely be fighting for the future of Women’s MMA.

Since being acquired by Zuffa, Strikeforce has reduced its focus on its women’s MMA division, some would say drastically. But if anything can make the Zuffa brass think twice about abandoning WMMA, it’s this fight. These are two of the best and most popular female fighters in the world going toe-to-toe for what could be five full rounds. It should be a great fight, and it should also be a firm indicator on what will happen to WMMA in the immediate future.

And the number-one reason to watch “Fedor vs. Henderson” is…

1. The main event, period.

I’ve talked about this event for so long and through so many articles that I’ve honestly ran out of things to say. Well, almost. So to end my pre-event coverage on “Fedor vs. Henderson”, let me say this: I wish neither man had to lose. I’ve followed both of them for a long, long time, and I’m proud to consider myself a fan of both. If this fight lives up to the hype, it should be one of the best, most nostalgic fights of the year. There’s no way I’m missing this one.
