Any "Elites" from verifiable breeder stock?

Greets once again gals and gents

Been smoking lately and contemplating a few things, yeah smoking makes me do stuff like that...lol Anyway I got to thinking about where elite's come from and how there's usually some sort of story attached as to how it came to be. I must admit, some of these stories are believable and some are, well IMO, remakes of a bad movie. Does good pot really have to come with the tales? All of these breeders, thousands upon thousands of plant, yet most elites, if you believe the stories, are the results of accidents and/or poor growing conditions.

I can only think of a handful, maybe less, clone-only elites that actually have a traceable pedigree and were found in an actual breeder's seed stock. I'm sure there has to be more, but my pot-head brain, even with all the contemplating, just can't think of any. A few that jump to mind though, the Joe Schmoe cut of Casey Jones by H3ad and OJD's SSSDH by Rez. Cheese from old school skunk#1, but you have to believe that's actually what it is. Have any other breeder's actual seed stock produced an elite or 2 in the offspring?

I know this thread will bring a variety of comments and they are of course welcome, but it's really a pretty basic concept IMO. Do you need to have a stoner story attached to be considered an elite, and if so, what have all these breeders been doing all these years?

I think all my moms are elites. And they all came from packs I popped

Since you asked.......

First, my '08 Strawberry Diesel keeper from a $4o pack of Reservoir Seeds. I've been braggin about this bitch for years. The Ultimate sweet and sour. Perfect mix of the parents. 75 days. Makes golf ball nugs that turn into spears on the top colas.
Bout time more people jumped on the bandwagon.

Another special lady is my SFS #4. She is SFV OG KUSH x SOUR DIESEL also by Reservior seeds. This pack had 9 females and multiple keepers. #4 seems to be my favorite (for now) but 2 others are close behind. She is very "Original Diesel"-ish, if that makes any sense. Very offensive odor. Potent like an uppercut. Deceptively good yield. Looks like small nugs, but there were a bunch of em in my scrog bush, and they were hard as marbles. Hardest nugs I've seen with my itty bitty 4oo's....

Colorado Cough is NL5 x Haze
didn't GDP come from a Big Bud cross

basically if you grow out enough seeds you can my elite keepers in most packs of good genetics.

ortega from northern lights. a lot of elites im guessing are homeade crosses though that turned out great. or from discontinued seeds. not many from seeds that are on the market right now. but u can always find your own and put it out there with the chance that it catches a buzz. if you live in california. lol.

Seems most growers, not sure what percentage, but most....seek out the best girl from a bunch of seeds, most often not a large number...10 or 20....and clone it for their collection. Then grow that same plant for years. Its certainly a sensible strategy for keeping good weed around, but it's not ideal for finding the most special, or elite, plants.

I think if more people grew these seeds out to the next generation, frequently where you start to see a lot of variation in the plants, and grew slightly larger numbers from seed in that F2 generation, at least for the first few weeks while these plants are still small, they could have more interesting plants to pick from, and increase the chances of finding the super duper special girl and/or male. Unfortunately, these larger numbers of plants potentially mean more trouble with LEO, which is another reason it doesn't get done.

Riri Sour Diesel (gotta cross the pond)

AND because enough I know have claimed it to be so...

"Nightmare Kush" from White S1 seeds... (also a pond crosser)

Carolina Blue - Blue Sat. 2.2 x Grape Krush - Arawn
BKGK - pre-98 bubba x Grape Krush - Retardo Motabon
Chem D x NL (plant #5) - Zoolander
Golden Cindy - Nuggetshiner

HONESTLY, found more "elite" quality plants from the SERVER FUND than I have from breeder packs. Maybe because many server fund crosses isolate and capitalize on these already sorted "elites" in their hybridization at some point along the way...just saying...

Sprout more seeds!

Elites can be found in many strains. I have found a few myself

Kalimist Indica Pheno (08)
Purple Querkel
Peyote Purple

Very high potential for Princess13 from DG. She is not done yet so that may change when I try it.
