Aero - what medium ?

I'm curious about what medium others are using in their aero grows. I don't currently use any medium in my aero setup and not sure what the advantages are of using a medium for aeroponics.

more importantly what setup do you have that use don't have to use a medium?

mediums are not really good, for a couple reasons

-cleaning
-cost / re-use?
-environment pollution to make product
-CEC / pH / nutrient solution affect

I have an aeroflo, used it on lettuce once, but ended up with hydroton as it was supplied with the kit..

i ran aero for a little while, i think hydroton is the best as it's really just a space filler and that's all you need right?
