After smoking nothing but shwag for months (many years ago) I got some blueberry on the west coast that had me feeling like I had dropped a couple of hits of LSD after smoking a couple of puffs. I was also in a completely unfamiliar environment, which definitely enhances the "trippiness" of any substance.
I'm not saying run out and get blueberry, because who knows who's cut I got or whether it was really blueberry. But maybe this will kick start the thread and you'll get some better answers.

had some legit durban that made me lose my shit. had to take a shower..
Mexican bagseed I grew out myself that was obviously a pure sativa and had me tripping balls nearly out of body experience type buzz and not like any of the modern strains it's a whole different kind of high almost like a different drug. Find some good old school mexican herb and grow them outdoors under the sunlight so they develop ample THC-V and you will get right where you want to be at brother. That is where the trippy component comes from in some strains from the research I have done, you want strains rich in THC-V 
Malawi Gold is a great place to look as many African strains are very trippy. Nigerian, Durban, African Sativa's ect.
Cindy 99 can also be very trippy when harvested with clear trichs but with that comes some racy paranoia & that typical rushing anxiety that some people can't manage well. I don't like it myself and if I smoke cindy it's always fully done and amber fully cured which mellows it out alot.
Freshly dried buds with all clear trichs is where the highest levels of THC & mind bending potency are to be found, once plants start going amber the THC levels are decreasing. Once buds are properly cured out the buzz normally mellows out as well and is less intense in my experience.
So Sweet Tooth definitely does not fit this bill though sorry guys I can't recommend it for being trippy but I will look for other threads though so don't worry!

i prefer trippy sativas over anything... so original haze is one of the most trippy smoke i tried, i mean smoking it regularly
of course wiht this kind of smoke very important thing is set and settings..
but there are some trippy hybrids too... of course haze hybrids like jack herrer or johny blaze... trainwreck is trippy tooo, and casey jones is trippy shit! other than there are pure sativas like zamal or malawi, thais, mexicans... i dont know trippy indicas though...

I have to completely agree with SOTF (like that's such a stretch... lol) with regards to finding Sativa strains that have a prominence of THC-v. I grew out some Durban a while ago that would tear me up, like seeing/hearing things. Reminded me of those first few moments when the shrooms start to kick in and the edges of reality get a little fluid.
I used to get some Train Wreck from this guy in Lompico, CA back in the early 2000's that would twist my shit up too. Orbiting around myself, talking to raccoons in the forest, making brownies in the microwave... very out of it. I found that Kandy Kush x Skunk #1 from DNA/Reserva carried over some of this "crazy" high.
Seems that the hunt for THC-v is on with a lot of breeders. There is a good prevalence of the stuff in the pure Sativa land races found in the nothern areas of South America, through Central America, and in some Mexican sativas as well. It is also common to South African Landraces, and the black colored sativas from Laos, vietnam, cambodia, and the northern areas of the south Pacific. I have heard that there are some high altitude Chinese Indicas from the Yunnan province which posses THC-v as well.
I have heard that genuine Willie Nelson from Reeferman has a fantastic cerebral high, closer to mescaline than mushrooms. i have not had the pleasure of partaking in this smoke or reading any test results on it but after looking at it's heritage I'd think this strain would pull down some good THC-v numbers too. Jack the Ripper is another strain that carries a good THC-v test score, which I wonder if it picked up from the C99 in it's lineage.
Anything over 5% THC-v with more than 20% total Cannabinoids is going to fuck you up royal. Be sure of that. Hermaphrodism in most of these "Black/Gold Sativa" strains is something that could probably use the most attention.

some sort of Jamaican in Upstate New York State in the summer of 1972. it was brought up to Binghamton from New York City. it had a cerebral high and gave intense hallucinations like a good dose of LSD when your eyes were closed. i would fall asleep hallucinating and wake up hallucinating. unfortunately i cannot obtain seeds.

i think thats the key right there is to not smoke low grade or not at all for an extended period then smoke something high quality, tolerance is a horrible bitch

Tolerance has a large part to play, so I don't think I'll include strains I smoked after taking breaks or smoking lower-grade herb... With high tolerance, I'd say Martian Mean Green. Still had me soaring and checking left and right as I thought I saw things in my peripherals, despite having toked large amounts on a daily basis for almost a year.
