rain sun rain sun rain sun, and the cycles go on. :D

getting lots of both here...schromfrosts starting to come down soon, braided buds, stacked not compact, helps with the mold :) did pretty well considering none of them are showing powdery mildew when the one other plant showed it lol. can't wait to smoke it!! schromfrosts taste sooo lemony and florally :)

hey OH, what do the elephant ear taste like? do you get tasty stuff off those seeds outdoors? i know the general anwer is yes, but discriminating minds want to know :) lots of outdo here i get from da braddahs isn't usually very tasty. depends on grower's level of experience and knowledge, but even some of the old heads don't have the tastiest. :) just wondering bro :)

ijim, 4000 ft is pretty high up there, and i have a good idea where you will be living. be careful, you may be medical, but it is still very very close to the national park, which is federal. all of us locals who know tread lightly in that area because of that specific reason. i have had friends that were busted growing in the national park, that is a big no no, as they have the resources to catch you. with that said, i have grown at 3500' up there, and it is very doable! you can do either in the ground or in pots, but plan on bringing in the soil to grow in. where you will be is super dry, but only 10 minutes away is one of the wettest places on the island, go figure :)

acclimated strains...gotta love um, WW.....pm magnet outdo. tight buds, too dense. all kinds of crosses out there now, i will never grow the WW. too much other shit to get you high. :D

I have found a couple of supply places that bring in some good looking soil by the dump truck load. But like you said water will be a bitch with planters above ground. Have to haul it in. Still looking around for a little ohana either on the BI or Maui that I can do my thing with affordable rent on Social Security. From most advertisements I see people still have their head stuck up their ass confusing medicine with drugs. I have till November to work things out.

Thank you For your wisdom OH.
I noticed a harsh chemical taste on plants in the bush that I used osmocote 14/14/14 on. How do you flush your plants in the cane fields when you use time release ferts?
The only reason I grow from clones is because of the 7 plant limit here. How are we supposed to keep ourselves supplied with 7 when they count anything with roots as a plant wether it is a seedling or ten foot giant?

Wandering Around Left Field...

Wandering Around Left Field...

I gotta disagree with you about Time release leaving a harsh taste in the weed. Other factors like soil composition, strain selection, and even what is and was growing there long ago can leave a taste. Time Release on an in ground plant...small cheese.

It's easiest to point at the time release and say that was the problem, but unknown to anyone decades ago pineapple was planted there and that stripped the soil down. Or somthing similar.

That said, many have mistaken my cane weed for house weed. Sugar is very easy on the soil, so unless I drop a pound of time release around the plant just before harvest you won't taste it.

In pots is another story. Yes, time release can build up. But it's not very likely to do that in ground the way I plant.

Now the how do I get 7 big girls when I'm only allowed 7. Either everything I touch turns to gold... or I cheat....what do you think? I left enough clues in this log...sorry...it is kinda wordy. Start reading.

Hawaiian...easy to say that when you can move the plants undercover huh?

What does the elephant ear taste like? Hell if I know. I forget shit from 30 minutes ago...30 years ago? Good Luck.

Why is outdoor sometimes not the tastiest? Could be a hundred different reasons. From a hard rain three days before harvest, to the guy just doesn't like you. There are many more but who the hell knows?

The repairs went well, girls are doing fine.

Getting ready to switch gears to the cane. Things look good there so I want to stay on top of them. This could be the once a decade trip where both the cane and he house work out....wonderfully.

I got a question for you HI Brothas,

In Cali we here all kinds of stuff about a strain from the islands called "Dawg" Some stories say that thats what the Mountian bikers that gave Joe brand his #'s were all the Chems come out of, were said to be growing in Colorado back in '93. "Dawg" . Also heard a ton about it on Maui couple years ago but never saw any every one at Charlies on Maui was raving about it.

Do you guys see "dawg" bud out your way or heard about it? or is it just some more cali rumors?

About 5 years ago there was a commercial grower here on Maui, and his breeder gave him a strain called "dawg". It was a sativa, and the buds smelled like, well, dog. The buzz was amazing... you couldn't smoke it and kick back... within minutes I would be building something, or working away. Really motivational smoke.

The same breeder crossed the dawg with a cut of NYCD and called it Scientist (the breeder's nickname). This shit was deadly. I entered in one of Marc Emery's competitions called "The Contest". He and his crew would sit around and test strains sent in, to evaluate them and eventually name a winner. It was all videotaped for PotTV, and when they got to my entry, Jodie's cutting it up and she comments on how old school sappy it smells. They start toking it up while Marc is checking it out under the microscope. He gets suspicious because all the trichomes are exactly the same size, and disqualifies my entry and declares my entry has been treated with DMT or MDA or some shit LOL. They started playing trippy music and doing weird shots with the camera for effect.

I realized after that the whole show was a set up to introduce a new strain, Early Wonder Skunk. It became a top seller in the Van seedbanks.

What were talking about?? Oh yeah, Dawg... loved it!

Checking The Children

Checking The Children

This weekend was a bitch. Checked a lot but didn't get them all.

Busted out the bicycles and tooled around the fields finding out what worked and what didn't. Bicycles...what a joke....Its true about what they say about never forgetting how to ride one.

This post I'm going to be a bit vague. Much as I'd love to tell you the areas that hit and missed...no can do. I can give ball park figures though.

The plants we put in dry didn't work out. Small, seeded, and total failures. The're hard to find, but there will be seeds there.

The ones we put in when they were watering all pretty much came thru. Some 7 footers there. A few we couldn't find, a few we would have to bike uphill to check and that wasn't going to happen. So we gotta go back.

Green Harvest got some. Not bad, but the rotor wash makes finding stuff hard. Knocks the cane down, and pushes it onto unfound plants. We wrote them off.

We're maybe half way done. A little less than half was good and looked like the last cane pics I posted.

We are at the point where if it isn't a declared girl it's gone. Also dumped lot of time release too.

The cane gets big fast and finding these is no fun. Partner came in too so it was easier. We have a few more areas to check so we should know where we stand by the end of this week.

Once we get past this point many will make it. Once we clean the boys out, we know exactly where everything is, then check once more for fags, and there hopefully will be a harvest out there.

Lose Ends. The Hard Part.

Lose Ends. The Hard Part.

When this starts, you try to figure out how do as much as possible in a few trips.

Then reality sets in. In this trip if you miss afew it can come back to bite you. The one you miss could be the one that has a male in it. So you have 15 girls and a single male to seed the whole thing.

Now we get to the lose ends part. Everything has to be found. Even if both plants in the hole croaked....you still have to know that.

As the fields get older they get harder to find plants in. The ones put in dry are two ft tall, and some are under the cane. They still gotta be found. Everything has to be found.

Green Harvest is also a pain. I design the patches so that if one side is found, the rotor wash from the chopper knocks down the cane on the other side. The hidden plants are under cane and are waiting to be found. It's a big job. But even if green harvest does a good job they may miss a few, Those need to be found. Nothing like leaving a half lb behind.

So the last 10% is the hardest. And we are now at that point. The bikes suck, but we can hide them and both of us work. It is going slower than expected. This qualifies as hard work.

Sooner or later we will be done.

Green Harvest is up. So we are taking it easy this week. Then back to the saltmines this weekend.

Another Day...Another Buck Three Eighty....

Another Day...Another Buck Three Eighty....

We have been hard at work in the cane. The plants that were watered correctly are there, and in some cases quite big. The plants that went in dry are nothing but problems. Small, hard to find, and seeded. Things are falling into place though

But then there are days like today. These plants were planted while they were watering, and the last girl is nine ft tall. What a nice surprise. These were some of the small Kushes. Not small anymore.

There are a few more patches we have yet to find. Two of them are dry ones and are a waste of sweat. The others were planted when they were watering so they have a chance. Still...we are right on time so far. On this schedule we'll be fine.

Pic 1) A thing of beauty.
Pic 2) The plant fighting the cane.
Pic 3) It's not that there is no pollen...we got lots of that.
Pic 4) There's nothing to screw. This is what a female branch looks like. Only a few preflowers. Very little to impregnate.
Pic 5) Bushes in a row at the house.
Pic 6) A Thai cross....also at the house.

At the house I took the Headband. A week early, but there was some rot spots starting.

Looking great OH, i really like the one's up close to your house. But im sure its not easy to take pic's in that cane. And i can really see how hard it would be to get through, maybe a GPS would help you find all your spots, just a thought. I saw a guy use one in a corn field so he could find everything at night.

The second to last pic at your house looks sweet. They look so damn healthy and the last Thai cross looks huge man!

Great work my friend, i hope you find more of those 9 footers. I have only tried Kush once and really liked it, i found it great for pain and packs a freaking good ass buzz.

Thanks for the pic's bro, keep er green man!

I Will Take Lucky Over Good Anyday

I Will Take Lucky Over Good Anyday

LSY....I've often thought of getting a GPS. It would make life easier.
But it would be real bad if it broke or fell into the wrong hands.

So, I still do everything the old way. Sure, I get to search fields unnecessarly. I may lose one here or there. But I don't have a cheat sheet with everything on it. If I ever get caught...there's no master key....well there is....but it's lost in the fuzzy depths of my mind.

Canni...That Thai plant is about 11 feet tall. That's one of my new holes, this year, and WAS the wife of my youth's vegetable garden....last year.

Rasputin....I do the same thing when I walk by. You can see my jaw tracks if you look closely.

Now in the interest of full disclosure....there are two plants in that hole. Yep....I cheated....Used the old two plants in one hole trick.

Magic Cat... You just slogged through all 26 pages of this?...Dude... Must have been a slow day. I thank you.

I'm the luckiest moron in the world. Hands down.

Now we've established the fact I am a cheating bastard....How many plants are in the pictures below?
