I am torn between packing the bed right away with 50 clones of the same thing and flipping next week or using it to grow out some stuff from seed I have going.Tough decision.

also...
did you line the bottom of the bed with a waterproof fabric?
no run-off?

did you consider putting in on top of shoe-horses and place a drain bucket under?

The bottom of the bed is OSB lined with some extra pond liner I had around.

I am not using salt nutrients and not feeding very hard so hopefully leeching it won't be a problem. Basically treating it like the beds in my greenhouse, everything in there is happy as can be so I figured why not?

tagged :) I feel like I've heard this how many dutch growers like to grow? I've seen a thread recently where a guy had something similiar (sorta) but it was a bed of hydroton and he had drippers I believe

Cool, if you find a link to the thread throw it up if you feel like it.

Before the medical laws in Canada a lot of people were doing these promix beds and packing them with hundreds of babies. Very productive if you can get the volume of babies needed.

I'm thinking about something a lil more manageable in case I need to get at something inside..

SOG in rubbermaid tubs... same principle but a lil easier to handle I think. Plus you can just poke a couple holes in the bottom put the lids below as catchtrays. badda bing badda boom.

Not sure how you are feeding, but this is inspiring... I think I want to play along. Been itching to do a SOG garden and have not run a bed in a very long time. In fact, I've never run a bed since using fully amended organic mediums. I did a couple times back in the day using botanicare products...

Sorry for the small blurp...I like what I see though. I'm going to start taking some measurements and get a small table up going!! Thanks for the thread!

PS: Plants compete with each other within the root zones which often triggers defensive growth...absorbing nutrients faster to rob the competition of food, growing larger leaves to cast shade on a competitor, etc. Scientists think the interaction of different plants in their root zones is what triggers some of this odd behavior. I think in a bed, it should always be the same cut. Not even the same seed line, but rather specifically, the same exact plant. Just a thought.

Looks like 'Growdoc' style, but the Doc uses deeper beds & a land-drain type duct, spiralled around in the bed for irrigation. His style kicks ass, aint seen him around for a while.

ill tagg along too! G'Luck!

I've done this exact setup years ago using pretty much the same ingredient list you are. I got amazing results with a SOG setup. My bed was 4'x4' and 8" deep.

Half my tent was a bed like that, the other half was free standing plants in pots, so I could move around enough to get to the whole bed as I only had a single zipper "door" offset a bit from center. If I had to do it again I'd just buy one of the newer tents that the whole side can unzip like you have there.

I actually used doubled up pandafilm for the bed, no leaks but I was very careful about sharp edges/etc. I would totally go with pond liner if I did it agian. Total time in the bed was 70 days or so. I believe my ferts were fish emulsion & something else, but it's been a while and my brain is old.

The edges would tend to dry out a bit more than the center of the bed and I would sometimes give them a touch of supplemental water a day or two before I actually had to water the whole bed. I think that was really the only issue I had and I'm sure a deeper bed or maybe making the edges of the bed thicker would have helped a lot. Size probably helps a lot with this as well and your bigger bed is going to help a lot I'm sure.

Nice!
Don´t have any experience on this one but been thinking about it.
So what better way to learn then watch it as it happens!
In order to make it easy on yourself i would go for cuts of the exact same mother.
All the best and thanks for sharing

My guy at the hydro shop was telling me the other day about people just starting to do this. Also, he mentioned using a 4x4 smart pot bed in a ebb and flow tray with holes in the bottom for drainage. I'll be watching this one for sure!

Drainage would be the only issue I can think of. A shower stall pan sloped to the center drain lined with landscape cloth sitting on a frame would be a good base.

indoor bed gardens have been utilized by many growers on here and the results are usually good.

You dont even really need to let it drain, just make sure you grow organic and then just water when needed.

i do suggest a proper tie, train, trellis, or support early on as certain varieties can fall over each other come later on in flower, and once they are bigger it is a bit trickky to move around the plants, as compared to how easy it is when plants are in containers.

i prefer this method though
