GO CADEL EVANS.....TOUR DE FRANCE

High Country

Give me a Kenworth truck, an 18 speed box and I'll
Veteran
Gutsy stuff......fitness to a new level.

That sort of riding is nuts.

This is no lie but once upon a time I used to ride the same trails as Cadel. Now they no longer exist as the eastern freeway has taken place of the beautiful bush and the creek that ran through it 16 odd years back. Back then he was riding mountain bikes and myself and 2 friends used to always try tokeep up with his training group but only one of my friends was able to (I used to run 10Km almost every morning and spend between 1-3hrs in the boxing gym after school) as he was a freak then just as he is now. I know how hard I trained and I couldn't even touch his tracks. I cannot even concieve of the pain that kind of insane riding must put a person through and Cadel does it year in year out day after day. He's a freak who must also train like an animal. I'll be supporting the guy even if he never wins as just finishing, let alone getting a podium finish on Le Tour is one hell of an achievement. Still, go for first place Cadel!!! All of Oz is behind ya mate!!!

Cadel was my MTB hero 12yrs ago...there was a bike he rode in the world championships hanging up at the AIS that I wanted to steal...he could ride a kids tricycle n still beat all of us. Go m8

Was it a Ritchey? He rode for team Ritchey for a while, the only people still using chromoly frames when everyone had switched to aluminium/carbon but their frames are beautiful, double/triple butted steel, strong as hell but with a little give unlike aluminium, stiff and uncomfortable IMO as a mountain bike material. BTW, GO CADEL!!!!!!!!! He's taken out the tour!!!!!! next stage is just ceremonial! He's done it! What a gun!

Well done to him!!!

I see this tour de farce every year and cringe at the amount of drug cheats involved in the sport. EPO rules the roads and as such, this sport is tainted rubbish in my eyes.
