Hello friends, today I have a rare and wonderful smoke report for you. Many years ago I was gifted with a rare clone and kept it close to my heart. Today I will provide everyone with a little lineage as well as a smoke report for my AOTA cut, grow by member !Peace! in soil using fox farm nutrients.

The Story; About 5 years ago a good friend of mine was on a road trip down the 101 from Oregon to California and back for a music festival. On his trip home he stopped at a rest area to have a smoke and he ended up smoking with some biker dudes who were impressed by his herb and his knowledge and gifted him a clone of some of the stuff they smoked, they called it AOTA. Said it was an old california strain, but gave no other linage about it really.

The Facts Absolutely sativa in appearance. Skinny leaves and lanky plant. Light green color with a powerful lemon smell even during veg. Yields huge, pine cone shaped buds, lots of skinny calyxes with even more red/brown hairs. Finished in 65-70 days depending on soil/hydro. A slow grower during veg, it will take off and blow you away with her quickness and heavy yields, those lanky nodes fill in all the way. You can feed her heavy, shes not a finicky girl and can take a lot of abuse and still give you outstanding yields.

The Smoke
It starts in your head and creeps its way down your body, not a ceiling and could make yourself pretty paranoid if you smoke too much in one sitting. Excellent for playing guitar or Xbox, going for walks, and fishing. The smell is amazing, fresh lemons and sour candy, and a powerful skunky smell from a distance. Very similar to a lemon diesel cut I used to have except without the diesel. More of a lemon skunk but rolled in candy. Odor control is a must, I can smell this still on my hands after rolling a joint for the rest of the day.

I will add pictures soon once everyone is all dry, trimmed and ready for a photo shoot. Anyone out there have any experience with this rare lady?

This is a first for me. I'd like to see some pics love the lemon smelling and tasting buds. Especially when potency is up there. Can't wait to see the pics.

well this cut is different than what is known as AOTA in california.

AOTA aka all of the above was created in 2004 or 05 by some kid in arcata who had a hermie. Im pretty sure one of the parents was the lambs bread cut that circulates their, becuase they both have a unique hamster cage smell. And the market had quite a bit of lambsbread in the 6 months leading up to AOTO being released and becoming a trend.

Amazing, I was told by some that have smoked her in the past that she as also short for, All Of The Above, so who knows. All I do know is that this stain is a gem and should be shared with the world!!!! I am an Indica man through and through and I keep this sativa in my garden always. So I guess from this point forward my cut will be known as the smason cut, because its obviously a different cut that the original cali AOTA.

In a few weeks when my outdoor comes down I am going to do a grow journal al on my indoor medical tent this go around, so in that thread I will be able to give a lot of information about this stain and many pictures of it through its life stages.

yeah the real deal AOTO is bomb but I have been told the yeild is shit which is why it has not become more popular. Potency wise i would say its slightly more potent than trainwreck but more functionable; the bag appeal is equal to trainwreck as well. The high on it is really a full body and head high that is rather positive and complete feeling, it also has a unique strong smell and mass bag appeal, thus the name. The buds look airy/wispy but the calyxs are massive and golden colored with a ton of huge resin glands.
There is the possibility that what you have may be a cross with AOTO maybe.

Potency, smell and bag appeal are all 10/10 on this lady so maybe I do have a cross of the original AOTA. The buds do look pretty airy and wispy from a distance but temps were low and these buds are fairly dense, but a very nice ounce fills up a ball jar to the perfect. The lemon/skunk smell is unmatched, some of the most fragrant medicine I have ever come across.

Bag appeal: 10/10
Taste: 10/10
Smell: 10/10
High: right up in your face. For me it stays in the head. If you want to sleep, dont smoke this pot!

I know someone who's been growing Aota since early '06 and it's just called 'Aota', what makes this the 'samson cut' versus just being Aota?

Its only the samson cut until I can verify weather or not its the real original aota or not. Going to start a detailed grow report on her within the month.

yeah after all this time if someone handed me a bag of aota I would know because the smell is that distinct it smells like a hamster cage very distinctly and pungently of hamster cage the smell will overpower all other nugs in the bag except for maybe a good batch of TW or sour d.

From the rumors around town at the time it was made by a highschool student or a kid fresh out of highschool in arcata. The controversy was that it was an accident so he didnt deserve all the credit he was getting and or expecting. Now im not sure if the creator of the cut was a kid who grew out a bagseed or a grower with a hermie or accidental cross. The rumor was a hermie but what 2 plants Idk. It was really popular all at once and the market was flooded with it for a period of time. The market had been flooded with what was called lambs bread several months earlier and they both shared too many traits in common to be a coincidence.

The buzz was definately that this was a new strain. not an old one. At the time I thought it was going to be the new strain everyone grew and it would have rap songs about it and all that. People that are from arcata from the time should be able to back up my story.

I heard these rumors for the people i got the bud from and 2 older dudes arguing if the kid deserved props or not in a cafe or something, 1 of the guys seemed to think the kid was a punk ass who got lucky and didnt really know shit, the other guy seemed to agree but pointed out that the kid found aota and they didnt the conversation seemed to go down the path of what is propper breeding vs the result and luck.

like someone can grow out 1 seed and find a better pheno than someone who went through 1000 seeds.

I know this is an old thread but I have some AOTA info that I think could help. The cross is Northern Lights #5 with a strain dubbed "Pine Hills Blend". I believe that it was not an accident, but in fact a pollination that was never supposed to happen but I cannot verify that so it may be urban myth. As far as the plant goes, it is very distinguishable by the unique ultra piney scent and the fact that outdoors it finishes in September. For some reason the early finish does not translate so well indoors, more around 8/8.5 weeks, and can have purple hues too depending on temps. I love the AOTA and think that it is a very great commercial strain. I am not sure what cut you got, but it does sound like a cross to me.

hmm maybe theres a new aota? idk but the one I remember was not piney... but undeniably hamster cage with some musk and parmesian undertones in a scent that was so thick you could slice it.

Does the AOTA that you are familiar with finish in september naturally? I am wondering if there are different types, I am not sure as I have only seen this one. I started seeing it around 05 and it has been a staple ever since, I grew it briefly last year but stopped due to the fact that I did not prefer her indoors and that was the only way I was growing at the time.

Veg N Out

The AOTA out of Potter Valley has always been touted as an early finishing moderately high yielding of moderately high quality buds..It's a good B+ strain...
