Great Genetics in 400w, 5'x3' tent, @ 29 days 12/12!

G'Evening Everyone! :tiphat:

Just want to start by saying that I am thrilled to have made it to this point. The grow started off fantastic (thread in my sig), then I had to leave town for 2 weeks and basically missed out on any & all of training, topping, LSTing, and the plants just grew out of control and into and through the light! (Holy fire hazard Batman)

Bottom line is that this is my first run with this strain and I was able to take some clones and those are all rooted and in some Fox Farms Happy Frog and out of the "shock" and are growing nicely. This 2nd run, I'm going to train them bitches like a pro and not be making the same mistake twice.

Anyway, here are some pics:

Those girls are taking over. Nice and green.

It's horrible! lol! I've given up on bending them carefully and tying them...that was fun for about a week, now everyday there's colas pushing against the bottom of the light and some grown around the light that I just let go - its weird to see buds a foot above the light. I had to leave town during the last 2 weeks of veg and was not able to properly top them and train them through the trellis - ideally i would have had 2 or 3 trellis and would have evenly spread out the canopy. Now I know to never make that mistake again - I was able to successfully get 6 cuttings from those plants and they are starting to veg out now.

Thanks for stoppin in and thank you for the kind words!

:yeahthats

I know the anxiety, lol. I've prolly got 1/3 the space you do. Just do the best you can and hope for the best.:) You can probably cut off any skinny stems/tops that haven't reached bud-set. That will give other buds a lil' more room to fatten up.

You'll definitely get some good penetration with the lamp that close.

Fucking jungle! Whats the strain?

Thanx!

Got a 5 pack of seeds, 4 were female, all 5 germinated no problems! I was very satisfied actually. This was my first go at it with real genetics, vs bagseed, and I can really see a difference!

I never thought of that - that since they are crapped up against the light, the medium budsites that normally wouldn't be that good will probably be a lot better than otherwise - thanx, that makes me feel a lot better about the situation actually! :jump:
(edit)Will also do that - cut the smaller sites up top to create some room. (/edit)

Fox farm happy frog.....what is that?

Fox Farm is the brand.
Happy Frog is the name of the potting soil mix. In all my catelogs it's right by the FF Ocean Forest potting soil. They have one that is a seed starter type mix, this one is between that and the OF but NOT as potent as the Ocean Forest mix.
It seems to be some really nice soil - organic, got microbes, wormcastings, humus, etc., and this is my first experience with Fox Farms and it seems they really take pride in a great product!

THE FLOWER SHOTS IN THIS THREAD ARE FROM A 100% AERO 6-PLANT SITE SYSTEM - the clones I took are just a few inches tall and are in potting soil mix, not aero or hydro for this next run...

couldn't resist myself from *bumping*

We are @ day 32 of 12/12.

Says it's 50-60 day strain.
For 70 sativa, 30 indica,
I wouldn't be shocked if they wound up swaying more towards 60 than 50 days! Plus they have a lot of weight to put on - otherwise my yield will suck - lol

Thnx!
Your excitement makes me want to see your crop flourish. I'll keep watching this thread,I wish I could watch every thread on IC,there's so many! And this is a good time to take an interest in aero too!

Very encouraging budshoteyes - I appreciate your best wishes!

Here are some new photos from an hour ago:

This last one, a good caption: "Above the rim" lol, a lot of growth up into the light, around the light, & over the reflector! Oh well, live and learn and now height won't be an issue in the future.

As always, please feel free to leave comments, flames, questions, anything! :dance013:

From aero to soil....how do you feel about soil so far,do you think you'll yield as well?

First thing that pops to mind, regarding aero to soil..., S-s-L-l-O-o-W-w..., SLOW - lol.... it seems like they aren't even growing compared to the previous set-up. The nice thing is it is a LOT easier in terms of amount of "work" & not running the risk of frying everything in < 12 hours! So that is nice.

For yield, I had some issues in the aero system (NONE that weren't 100% PREVENTABLE w/ some brain power) - so i was hoping for an elbow off 5-6 plants, I think I will be happy with a 1/4 lb - so thats like .25g/watt - not what I had envisioned. With these plants in soil, I'm going to go about training them totally different and won't run into height issues - so with THESE 6 plants I am going to get 3/4-full bow - I'm going to top them one - 3 times, lollipop them before flowering, and keep a couple layers of trellis so I really can maximize my canopy.

Had lets say, BOG or anyone of our masters been working with the same exact set up(s) I am - I'm almost sure they'd have pulled more with the aero just due to the amazing growth rates - so they'd be able to tweek things in matter of 48 hrs or less. So all in all, personally I will be getting MORE yield from the soil but that is b/c I had insane height issues so my plants' yield and tops suffered a ton. I probably will have like 5-10 MEDIUM colas where there would normally be those + 10+ LARGE colas, I won't have any large ones.

We made it to day 50 of 12/12! Yaye! Website says 50-60 days; so far <5% amber trichomes - closer to 1-2% really not any...A lot of clear and cloudy tric heads!

Cut a little bud earlier and should be smokeable in a day or so - can't wait!

The smell really is like "semi sour rotting fruit" mixed with some Sour Patch kids smell!

-Sinse

Edit: How quickly do tric heads turn amber, like if I'm at 1% today, could I be at 20% amber in a couple days? How fast do they turn? Any input appreciated!!

Ambering of trichs in my opinion, is strain and grower dependent... more on the strain... some strains i've had ambered up in a matter of days, some took a couple weeks...

The Harvest Has Begun!

The Harvest Has Begun!

Pic please!

Sure thing!
See below buddy!

That's one of the most delicious looking sativas I've seen and it's not even ripe yet! K++++

It's got a very very strong smell of sour rotting fruit, just as the described on the website - hints of lemon, pineapple, cherry!

Here are some pictures I took just now. I just barely cut a few branches off yesterday and trimmed them up right as I cut them - hung them to dry, hanging off a clothes hanger with some hemp - beats the fuck out of a Glade Plug-in, keeping our living room smelling delicious!

Space Jill, just cut 36 hours ago:
