only thing that has stopped me from doin that is it's not my house..it's a rental....maybe i'll get an estimate on the plumbing..i've been here for 6 yrs and never a problem..it's an old 3 bedroom house that the landlady dont give a fk about..i havent called her for anything the whole time i've been here and wont..shes an old rich woman with a lot of property and all she wants is the rent...i've never been late..

I get your position and don't blame you for not wanting to call her. You send the rent in each month and prefer to never hear/see her again. So my suggestion would be fix it yourself.

Fuck moving to another house just cuz the house your at now has fucked up plumbing. fix that shit and keep doing what your doing.

I'd call the landlord and tell her the plumbing is shot but you'd be willing to take it off her hands if the price was right. The city sucks, once you've been in the sticks it's hard to move back to a city.

For example, my friend is a city boy. Grows in a condo he owns surrounded by people. It's home to him. He's comfortable there and fits in. place toliet bowel on top then bolt down to floor.....bolt on back.....reAttach water line...and U'r golden.....

sweating copper apart and replacing a small peice is also rather simple

BUT U can't crossover from copper / metal to PVC, or CPVC.....

If you're going to buy a house, the most important thing is location. I feel as though an apartment building has too many potential people watching your comings and goings. It doesn't matter how nice it is. I was looking for a new house recently. Saw a really nice one, near an apartment building, with about 10 units. The house was great, but I passed on it, because of the location. Keep looking, save more money, or find a place further away from the busier areas. You don't have to keep living in the boonies, but if you're going to live in the city, the phrase for the day is negative pressure. Good filters and negative pressure, and everything should be fine.

strainhunter,thanks for the thought but it wont work..she has many rentals and access to plumbers,carpenters,etc,who will do the work dirt cheap.(pill heads,drunks,etc,livin in her cheap ass apartments)and that'd be the 1st thing she'd suggest. just no way that i could involve her in this..she knows how to use people..thats how she made all the money. very savy business person but i cant stand the bitch..i have as little contact as possible..not my cup of tea!
