Coco brick expansion differences

Has anyone else noticed the difference between different coco bricks as to how well they expand when soaked in water? Some bricks I have will soak up the water like a sponge and others take forever to soak water up and never quite expand to the volume that the others do even from the same brands of coco?

No one has seen any differences in their coco bricks? I know my hands and wrists are seriously sore from breaking up those bricks that don't expand as well and I still have a bunch more to transplant. Its wierd though, some of the bricks expand awesome and basically fall apart themselves and require no muscle to break up.

i use the GH stuff.. its a huge brick so you do have to break it up by hand somewhat, but it seems to absorb water very easily.... ive only used cold water

I'm trying sunleaves bricks right now. Some absorb the water great others not soo much. I do use very hot water too, that does seem to help. Right now I am going to test a few brick brands and see what is the best stuff for the price. I need a bunch of coco bricks each round so price is definitely a factor. I'm trying to find the best bang for the buck.

I use Down to earth the big one 4.5 cubic ft mix in some ROcks and Rice hulls lovin it the extra work is a pain in the ass but so much cheaper and easier to transport and what not. I soak in PH'ed water 15 gals per bale over night in 40gal trash can then put into pots and Water with 1st week flowering nutes before i add any plants even if im using for Veg inless its for moms then i just soak and add mom and water as normal..

very simple... smell the coco... the one that expands e z is pure coco and the ones that dont have dirt in them.....

if they are in a bag like the gh coco above then you can tell by how loose the bag is on how much dirt its contained... its packed by volume and dirt is heavier then coco.. meaning the ones that packages are looser means that it has more dirt.. .you want to buy the ones that fill out the package completely...

i went through about 30 blocks of coco at the store to find 6 good ones... its fucked... i started buying the prewet bags....
