It is also used by hair dressers and veterinarians in strengths of 35%.

My grow store carries gallons of h202 for 25 bucks. Nutra-life brand I believe. Hope you get it fixed. Your rdwc rocked it out this root rot is pretty much the only draw back.

H202 is commonly used to kill algae in pools and spas.
Check the active ingredient on the label. The ones you want clearly list hydrogen peroxide. Different brands have concentrations usually between 25% & 35%. About $20/gallon.

Hydrogen peroxide is not primarily used for killing algae in pools. Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidizer. When it comes to oxidizing, it’s actually 30% more powerful than chlorine. But when it comes to disinfecting, hydrogen peroxide is less powerful than chlorine. Hydrogen peroxide requires ultraviolet light disinfection as the primary disinfection agent when used in pools. ie Hydrogen peroxide is not a good disinfectant when diluted with large amounts of water. It is simply used in pools in combination with ultraviolet lives when the users do not want to use chlorine as a disinfectant.

You are correct.
Quote from the following link:
Hydrogen Peroxide will not control Algae in your hot tub. To reduce the possibility of algae contamination, keep the tub covered when it is not in use and add water only from a chlorinated water source..... When Algae is under control return to using hydrogen peroxide.

I assumed that when people "shocked" pools when they were shitty and green that was why they used H202. Incorrect assumption on my part.

Bleach and H202 can be used interchangeably for some controls, but not for others. The important part to know is H202 is a powerful oxidizer ---- and to know what an oxidizer does and does not do.

Thanks for the correction ----- CB

Carboy,
Thanks for the pointer. I was able to find a different brand.

vaped,
Your grow store is mo better. I haven't seen it other than grow specific quarts. Which as we all know, once it gets put into a colored bottle with a label, the price quadruples.
