Oder Control Without Carbon Filter

I am looking for an alternative to using a carbon filter and fan to keep odor under control. I can't afford a filter and fan combo but need to try to keep odor to a minimum.

Can anyone who has first hand experience please let me know whats worked for them?

Was looking at this http://fwd4.me/06Tm but wanted other options.

This will go in a 36"x20"x6' Tent.

small cab, low odour strain with good fresh air ventilation...iv done it, id advise you not to do it, Odour from a grow and loose lips are the biggest ways to get caught by the law....scrubbers are ultra important and id do some research on building a DIY version as your growspace is not massive and iv seen and tried with success:- cat litter (crystals) and also industral cooker type carbon impregnated cloth as a wrap....as any filter will create restrictions you certainly need a fan powerful enough to suck it out.

maybe get a second hand growfan?.......theres gotta be a lot out there.

You'll think you smell your grow when its being stinky when in reality people who haven't been around it will smell it even when you think its not smelling.

most grows busted due to smell have owners who weren't aware of it. its not like they sat around on their huge investment just hoping the smell would be tolerated and ignored

well you have those smelling agents ( ona or the likes )

lots and lots of airflow

but yeah, if you live around people, you need a filter. you will get use to the smell, think like cologne where you smell it for 10 minutes then you can't smell it anymore but everyone can.. get a second job on the weekends or do some misc. work for the money.

if you were growing one micro plant.. ok.. but this is not a micro micro grow

Cheapest option is to just run around cutting people's noses off... but I do hear they pay $.50 per day in jail, so perhaps that's a money maker in the end...???

all the above advice is right on....but since you asked the ? heres my best advice:
if you cant filter your exhaust then try to vent it out above your roofline. the roof is where the sewer gas usually comes out because it is rare that someone smells anything vented out 25' above their head.

follow the bathroom fan duct...sometimes the venthood over your stove. thats where it likely ends up.

I have also seen basement grows where the stinky air is pushed into the sewer line through a toilet drain. either way, same concept.

You can buy activated carbon at walmart and most petstores. In the store it's around $8-$10 per half gallon. You can then build your own carbon filter for very little.

That's what I did for my micro cabinet. I was able to keep my micro operation running nearly scent free for 2+ years with only about $20 worth of carbon, a couple of $2 tupperware containers and a $12 pc fan.

For my new setup, which will host considerably more lighting and plants, I have opted to go with a Can fan and filter combo, which ran about $275 for both but the filter was designed to be used with the fan.

One harvest of one ounce will more than pay for the $275. Don't cheap out. Find a way.
