This may or may not be news to you, but craigs+list is now charging $25 to employers placing help wanted ads.

So I paid $25 and took out this ad in Central L.A. I'd link it, but they are pretty pissed apparently. I'll just paste the text at the end of this email.

First of all, the ad sent my website through the roof.

Second of all, people have been sending me their resumes when I specifically told them not to do so. Some people even attached cover letters and writing samples. NONE of which I have even bothered to open.

I took the ad out to promote my site, but it was too tempting to troll some of them. Turns out, I'm getting new material for that $25 as well. But back to craigs+list . . .

I log in and immediately a huge contract is right in my face. New Terms of Use. It was way too detailed to read, I skimmed right to the part about $1,000 damages for each violation of their TOU.

Never heard of it We have student loans we're still paying off, and so should you! Our associates have a high turnover and suicide rate, but if you stick it out, in about 20 years we might make you partner. We are in Century City on a very high floor, so if you are really lucky, you might just die in an earthquake. Don't attach a resume, we don't have time to read your lies. Just send us an email telling us why you would like to work for us. That's it.

craigslist: Account Log In

You have declined our Terms of Use. You may not use your craigslist account until you accept our Terms of Use

WARNING: scammers may try to steal your account by sending an official-looking email with a link to a fake craigslist login page that looks like this page, hoping you'll type in your username and password.

Look carefully at the web address near the top of your browser to make sure you are on the real craigslist login page, https://accounts.craigslist.org

The safest way to login is go to the craigslist homepage directly by typing in the web address, and then clicking on the 'my account' link.

/celebrate

Its official. I'm hired. I'm not fluent in Spanish, but check this out: I negotiated an entire child visitation schedule between two parents who don't speak English.

I separated them, then essentially mediated the dispute completely in Spanish only asking every once in awhile, "Como se dice . . . ([How do you say?]

Anyways, my dudes and dudettes, to celebrate my officiallness of landing my dream job after thinking I was going to be homeless (srsly), check it outz, just taken out like an hour or so ago (timed it perfectly btw bwhahahaha)
