advice needed

a good friend who grows recently passed away last week.i was just informed by his son that the dea came in afterwards because of the grow and seized all his belongings.according to him,his brother who lives there saw a "list of names" they had somehow.he said my nickname (misspelled) was on the list.i'm assumming this is a list of his phone numbers,the son who lives there has his phone though. i was just putting my stuff back together and now i plan on scrapping everything. am i being too paranoid? very few people know me by that name,mostly family but i'm wondering if they had the number and being who they are can they find me? thanks for any help

thanks,no,nothing yet. i'm wondering if they'll just assume i'm a customer or if they'll bother checking thoroughly. the last thing i need now is to get busted,i have a family to take care of but i also need to keep going to be able to take care of them too.i feel so screwed right now.the proverbial rock and a hard place. the phone is actually in my girls name,the electric account where i am is in mine and the cell company is a no contract type thing,just pay a set rate every month for unlimited service

yeah funny to me too,i guess thats it,i'm scrapping it.the guy always struck me as a rat bastard too and i was wondering myself why he didn't get in any trouble. you couldn't live there and not know.it wasn't a big grow but if you lived there you definitely knew what was going on

Sounds quite odd to me. In Florida, of all places, they'd bust the live in brother as an accessory. Also, what would give them the right to take all his belongings? Lastly, the DEA wouldn't get involved in anything so petty....

Do you think someone may have made up this story so they could take all his belongings? The old "keep everyone scared so they don't question anything". My advice, is to tell the son, who should have inherited all these belongings, to call the police and report all of his fathers belongings as stolen..... He'll find out what happened then now won't he?

yeah you need to clean house of any contraband of any kind, top to bottom. then you can safely start asking questions about the belongings that were reportedly confiscated. wouldn't surprise me if the guy living there told them everything he knew. so be ready for them to surprise you with stuff they have been told. you might be best refusing to even talk to them if they come to you with a search warrant. as it's too easy to make a mistake or get caught in a lie. let your lawyer talk for you.

the house is clean, i don't plan on talking to anybody either.if its true,i have no doubts the guy would tell them anything he knew. i appreciate all the advice.i really think jj hit the nail on the head,i think the brother may have made it all up just to take his dad's stuff.he said they took his cash and all his belongings.i know the guy didn't have a lot of money and this son has stole from him in the past

even if it turns out to be a waste to have taken down, that's just part of growing. sometimes you have to make a choice and it's always better to play it safe rather then end up being sorry.

but yeah it might well be as you say. you need to grill the lodger for every detail of his interaction with the supposed dea. the story he tells should tell you whats up. if someone dies of natural causes the police are still called right, so they probably would do a walk around and find the grow, so it's not impossible to believe they confiscated the grow, but taking all his belongings seems weird. also seems strange that the live in guy wasn't at least arrested and questioned at the station. all very strange, but life is like that some times.
