ganjasuite: lol, I'm from Alabama actually. I'm Irish and Cherokee, and yeah I guess I can be mean when I feel the need. Blunt, more like it. I speak my mind. You know I reckon half of the whole point and purpose of this here "Internet discussion forum" thinga-ma-jigger is so's we can share info that works, and expose bullshit rumors and myths for the useless baggage they are.

How many noob growers are there out there who could have successfully used the Solo cups they had on hand to start their grows, but instead went through extra trouble and expense procuring/making "special" extra dark containers because they heard some asshat trying to pass himself off as an expert claim that light kills roots? How many people are there out there who have lost plants and entire crops because of some other "common sense" bullshit they heard, read, believed, and adhered to which later turned out to be totally false?

If our goal is to improve the art/craft/science of growing cannabis, then we need to be pro-active and vigilant in stamping out nonsense and stupid myths at every appearance.

I agree that Solo cups are not as 100% stable as a proper flower pot. They're WAY cheaper though, and if I run out on a Sunday I can walk down to the gas station and get more. For larger plant numbers, "proper" flower pots is a nicety that most can't afford in the very beginning.

I love seedlings in beer cups with soil. Let the soil dry a bit and you can hold them upside down, pop the cup off and inspect the roots. Then you know exactly when to transplant. Plus the oxygen induced into the soil when you re insert them into the cup I feel is beneficial.

i have used several of these in the past

lately i have been opting for paper drinking cups, empty ben n jerry's 1 pint ice cream containers, anything like that basically

when i punch holes into the paper based ones i don't get these tiny pieces of plastic that eventually float to the giant trash island in the sea, also it's less messy inside punching holes through the paper with a small phillip's screw driver as opposed to drilling through many plastic cups

a great excuse to eat more ice cream as well i'd say

......

And why is that if you don't mind me asking?

Being polite & respectful when stating your point is what it's all about.

We already got enough mean, selfish and disrespectful ppl around. No need to add to that.

Kindness is what makes you a real man, even if it is about a grossly different opinion.

PS/Edit:
My Dad always taught me: It is easy to step down, but try stepping up once you have made it down there.

Put your beer cups in a small rubbermaid and they don't tip over and you can old 12 beer cups, or how many you can fit. than you can move them around a lot easier ect.

Shoe boxes work too:tiphat:

I get the newer square bottom solo cups they come in all kinds of cool colors now I like the GREEN myself, anything but red! :canabis:

And for the record, plant roots should not be exposed to light if at all possible it's not natural for one (unless they are surface roots) along with a host of other reasons like the light promoting algae growth in the moist container and anyone worth their salt knows this but I would not waste my time arguing with angry testosterone fueled noobs like gingerale over it lol. :bigeye:

A clear cup put inside an opaque one would work fine for checking root progress. :good:

Beer cups for seedlings FTW! :woohoo:

Yellow checking in here. Haven't seen any other yellow in here yet.

I think I've got a couple blue backups but haven't used them yet.
