Green Harvest does that here all the time. When they find a patch with small plants in it, rather than send someone down to pull the plants, they have a ball suspended from a line.
The chopper hovers over the patch and sprays the plants with Rodeo. There is red dye in the mix, so the weed can't be harvested and sold.
I'd rather them do it this way because the rotor wash knocks the cane down over some of the plants. So they very seldom get them all.

I've heard of this happening out in oklahoma about 7-8 years ago I was out there visiting some fam and the news started talking about how they would be spraying wild hemp crops with this dye that would make the plant turn red ...not the first time ive heard of this tactic anyway

i could see this happening. prohibition is a breeding ground for stupid shit. check out where denatured alcohol came from and read some of the comments from the pro prohibition clowns at the time. we are lucky they at least throw some dye in the poison these days, it was not always that way.
