Sensi Seeds Afghani #1 and Maple Leaf Indica

Have Sensi changed their Afghani#1??
Used to be good in the mid 90's!!
I agree MLI is lovely, poss try KC's Afghan as well..

I would like to cast a 2nd vote for Kc's. She's a big affie outdoors but quality. Better by far than Sensi's afghani 1.

Luv a Grow, ive spoken with the folks at sensi a number of times about just this issue. They swear that they have never altered an established strain nor would they. They claim that if a strain didnt sell they would discontinue it and replace it with another. I used to believe every word they said but after they sold me the ill produced fems im a bit gun shy.

The real killer is that they dont stand behind their stuff. If your an american and you buy sensi seeds and theyre bad, too bad.

MLI is a hybrid strain of 2 closely related afghan cultivars taken from afghanistan in the early 70's-prior to the russian invasion and have absolutely no relationship to any of the NL varieties. One is a pure afghani, the other is an indica/sativa hybrid. Apples and oranges.

Something tragic has happened to MLI.

I once loved it. Last year, I grew it again, from Sensi, after a break.

I have been growing since 1974. Of all the strains I have grown, only guerilla gold has given me a worse pot hangover. The MLI from 2010 every time left me feeling dizzy and weird the next day, all day.

I gave away all the buds from four plants to experienced smokers. Because it is all they have till I harvest this year, they are smoking it, but their experience is identical.

Trichs were cloudy, with only abou 10%d amber.

Ahh, the 'is maple leaf still the same' argument. Well, I hope the hell it is, my circa-2009 ones are slated for a couple outcrossings and I don't want to hear negative things. I'm taking mine clear/cloudy in any case.

Its the same man. No differnce since 2000. But Jeff johnson, I want dizzy drunk. Hell, Im gonna order a couple packs right now, maybe ill get some of what you got.

The reason i like afghani is because most of it is heavy, hits the body hard and screws with your eyes. If i burn a big fat MLI joint 1st thing in the morning and burn a big one every couple of hours, by 8;00pm im drunker than hell, stumbling around and cant see shit!!! hmmmm hmmmm thats good stuff.

D.S.- this will be the first time I've grown MLI. They're outdoors, getting lots of sun in 4' by 4' holes (clay loam, amended with a rich homemade compost). I've heard they don't yield too much, but have a great calyx/leaf ratio - would you agree?

I put MLI yield outdoors at 6 ozs Campfire. Ive had some go 8, ive had a few go 4, but 6-7 oz's is an average yield. 5' tall

There are 2 pheno's sort of. 1 has a bit more of a headbud and slightly less branching and it yeilds a little less -5-6 oz. The more branchy one a good solid 6=7. Often the plants look similar and you have to grow a few to notice. Some have more of a thick sweet pineapple taste more than others. Ive had some pheno's that tasted so good you wanted to smoke it just for the sweet aftertast.

MLI is probably the most mould resistant strain of weed ive ever grown. In 12 years of growing it i havent seen the first bit and one year i had 16" of rain in 3 weeks from mid sept to the 1st week of oct and not a spot. Its also the only plant ive grown that ive never had a deer touch. It handles drought fairly well, never any serious bug problems. Its really a pretty tough plant. Thats not suprising though, Afghanistan is a tough climate.

The three main strains I'd hear recommended for potent couchlock most often were Nirvana's Aurora Indica, Sensi's Maple Leaf Indica, and unknown's (Paradise?) Sensi Star. Probably can find a lot of reviews of these three online.

I'm hearin' ya zero, so far I've attained regular non-femmed Sensi Star and MLI but have yet to grow either out, just keepin' in the vault. Dr. Toker, I was wondering if you ever chuck pollen and what are your thoughts on the quality of the SS or MLI f2s vs the f1s from the store? I'd assume that SS is IBL by now but who knows?

:tiphat:Thanks for the pic D.S. Toker M.D. I was gifted some MLI f2s from a friend awhile back . I had the strain years ago and loved it .

MLI sounds like a winner for my combination sleep apnea-insomnia. How would you rate it in stay down power? My grow situation is not quite ironed out and the indicas I can get in my non-med MJ area will put me out but an hour later I'm up again.
*looking for munchies :) *

I'm looking for an induced coma strain that's stable.
Anyone else with insomnia apnea issues that has suggestions are more than welcome.
If I could even get 4 hours of sleep in a row I would wake up with wood from the sheer novelty.

Anyone have recent experience with either of these strains? I am looking for a pure indica that I can harvest late and get stoned to the bone... Eyelid glue. Are these stable? Particularly interested in the afghani.

Thanks,
DD
I would recommend the Maple leaf Indica, being a semi-pure race of the 70 .... I think: P
For its unique taste and unique and good buzz indicated it offers.
Normal production but honestly pity you bale.
I put a photo of the Maple Left:)

^^ 'Pity you bale'? Do not know the meaning of that. Is the MLI the plant in front of picture or to the left in rear? Mine looks more like the one in left of picture in rear, but I doubt that is what you meant.

There isnt a lot of difference in f2 Maple leafs and f1's. The f2's are as nice as the f1's. The strain is fairly consistent and there isnt a lot of variation in 2's. In fact, ive had f2's and f1's in the same grow and if they werent marked, you couldnt have picked them out. Branchiness is about the only variation. Some are a bit more branchy than others.

The SS can vary in the f2. (not ibl) Although i havent seen any mediocre phneno's in f2, theyre very good to but i believe Sensi star to be a polyhybrid. Its my opinion that it contains cali orange, haze and Afghani and f2's can display any of those pheno's. As an outdoor grower, i fear the f2's because there is a tall, thin leaved pheno that takes 12 weeks to flower. Its head sweating dope but i can t finish in november.

Maple leaf is a good prospect. Its fairly relaxing freshly picked. But fully matured MLI, thats been cured for 6 good months is nity nite.

The Afghan mother in Mr. Nice Nordle is Maple Leaf according to Nevil. I also have their
NL x Afghan and KC Brains Afghan special. They are all cracking now!

Seems like after sensi seeds went to 10 seeds per pack people been putting them under the bus for some reason. Didn't hear bad reviews when they had 15 seeds in packs. Idk idk what it is thoe
