Stretching during the middle of the night, several times... banging on my muscles, several times... hopefully fall asleep, maybe.

But I'm thinking my issues have to do with diet, smoking & a general lack of exercise... ;-)

And I've never heard of RLS until the commercials on tv... pretty sure they used to just say, lack of circulation & get more exercise... but now they have a pill... lol

That damn commercial!!! All the above... also try a walk a few hours before bed (x geurilla grower ;) my northern lights seems to be the best meds just before bed. Mid THC but like a 5 % cbc/cbn
I have to stay away from edibles towards evenin.
Good Luck

NorCal I'm sorry to hear of your condition. I have it occasionally. What really helps me is my hot tub. I'll get up and soak for ten or so minutes to relax my muscles. If you don't have a spa buddy try a bath or even a real hot shower. I know how miserable it can be so good luck. Keep us posted how you do and what works for you please, thanks DD

Get some serious exercise in.

Do some squats, run 5 miles, bike 10 miles, whatever. Just tire yourself out completely a couple times a week. Would be very surprised to hear it doesn't greatly improve your condition.

Hi dude...
maximum muscle contraction is followed by maximum relaxation. You can take advantage of it.

Lying in bed on your back, try and isolate the muscles in your feet.
Carefully contract the muscles and hold for 10 secs.
Then relax and gently stretch out your feet.
Move individually through the muscles in your legs, buttocks, trunk, back, chest and then down your arms to finish at your fingers...

Really nice technique. Hope you enjoy the results.

I had that a few years ago and it was an early symptom of a pinched nerve. Now if I lay on my back both legs will go numb.

norcal -- sorry to hear, but some good suggestions above like a walk before bed. My sister in-law has it, doesn't seem smoking cannabis helps her with it at all but she started walking and it helped big time with the rls.

Basically this is a mineral imbalance. Whenever I get muscle cramps while sleeping I mix a 1/2 tsp of TRC Minerals in a smoothie and all is well. hth

I recently read that rls is believed to be associated with a lack of dopamine and that orgasm can help with symptoms. fwiw.

I've dealt with RLS since the mid eighties. I walk every chance I get and supplement with magnesium, calcium and zinc. I have accepted the issue and that's okay for me. Good nights mostly and some interesting associated dream imagery.

Life's a bitch, so be her pimp.

Peace.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

The first known medical description of RLS was by Sir Thomas Willis in 1672.

RLS is generally a lifelong condition for which there is no cure. Symptoms may gradually worsen with age, though more slowly for those with the idiopathic form of RLS than for patients who also suffer from an associated medical condition. Nevertheless, current therapies can control the disorder, minimizing symptoms and increasing periods of restful sleep. In addition, some patients have remissions, periods in which symptoms decrease or disappear for days, weeks, or months, although symptoms usually eventually reappear. Being diagnosed with RLS does not indicate or foreshadow another neurological disease.

My wife's family all have it. She takes the parkinsons meds at higher dose than what they give to parkinsons patients. Relaxation is a key, and overexcercising leg muscles during workouts will aggravate instead of lessen symptoms.

Moderation in workouts is one suggestion I'll make.
Lukewarm baths when they get unbearable late night.
Popsicles help too for some reason.

i know lack of exercise is a huge contributor.

i skateboarded for over 6 years and once i decided to quit because i was tired of almost killing myself.. i noticed how restless my legs became once they werent used to being pushed so hard anymore, really sucks cause i have always had insomnia now i freaking move my legs constantly when i try to sleep tossing and turning making the insomnia worse.

Not sure about the popsicles, but I fully agree with the exercising thing, when I was younger I used to try and "Walk it off" Never with any success, only made it worse.

My RLS will keep me up all night unless I either drink myself to death, or burn some blueberry,..... :D

Any solid indica strain does the trick for me, but one that after 2 rips of the bong has you sitting staring at the TV for 3 hours without even putting the bong down because you forgot your holding it is just right!:blowbubbles:
