No need to cure?

If you are vaping, is there even a need to cure the weed at all? If your vaporizing the trics/thc anyhow, why cure it? Any ideas?

The biggest advantage that vaporizer gives for me is using wet weed straight from plant to inhale. It's the time up to a month before harvest, when there's no supplies left. It is also the quickest way to dry the buds :) and put them straight to the bong. The taste in a bong ain't too good but it's a low price for smoking herbs even a month earlier. Is there need to cure? I think it's not necessary. Peace

i really dont like cured weed in the vape

i think it has a stale taste

it smokes wonderful but doesnt vape so great

for vaping i prefer fresh weed that just dried 10-14 days , then i freeze it and i always get an intense smell and a good taste in the vape

i never understood why people recommend this, i have vaped for over 10 years and have vaped with almost every vaporizer known to man for the exception of some new ones made recently.

with the amount of water contained in freshly cut bud, it makes vaping it almost worthless, you barely get decent hits and because it takes so long to start vaping it, by the time you start getting hits it becomes overly dry and has lost a lot of effect and potency.

look at it this way, would you take a fozen steak and cook it immediately on a grill? or would you rather let it thaw? then cook it? same applies to cannabis and mostly everything we consume in life.

to me its always been a complete waste of bud no matter with what ive tried it with, ive tried quite a few strains all with same mediocre effect because they were so wet.

i cant agree with THC123, simply because some of the best times i remember from vaping has been from properly cured bud that was cured to perfection. i can always tell a good cure just from vaping something, the only bad experiences ive had with vaping was either trying to vape wet buds in a desperate attempt to get high or bud that wasnt properly cured well enough.

dont take my word for it try it yourself and you will see its really not worth the waste, its just better to wait or make some hash from trimmings in the meantime.

after drying 14 days with all the leaves on ,in a drying tent they are real nice and not wet at all

when they come out of the freezer in small baggies i put it in a jar and after 2 days it is wonderfull , aromatic and gives thick vapor

in the short run i do prefer cured buds , but in the very long run(years and years) i prefer frozen buds cuz the aroma stays the same

that's just preference curing changes the smell and aromas not everyone likes it

i just like to taste the smell of the plant when i vape

your technically freezer curing.

i do agree with you on the frozen method, as ive heard thats the best way to cure your bud. my freezer just blows so i cant trust relying on it to cure anything.

i still cant deny how much i love popping open a jar of perfectly cured buds though.

wow, thank you all for the informative responses. For vaping, is there a time period for curing your bud vs. regular smoking? I realize it's all ball park figures here. Thanks again for all of your help. Cheers!

you can vape bud earlier on in the curing process than if it were to be smoked.

probably not by much though but you could probably cut it off 2-3 weeks ahead of time and just start vaping, if its sticky and gooey not too wet it should be good to vape, smoking wise doesnt burn so well though.

Another quick question. I ordered a grinder to use with my new vaporizer, was this needed? I ask because doesn't grinding up the trichs hurt the strength of the weed? Or would it be better to just put in VERY small nuggets, like clipped with scissors and small enough to let the air flow through the bowl? How do you grind yours up? Also, I haven't smoked week in years and years. I'm vaping for the first time. Can I expect to be knocked on my ass pretty good? lol I'm gonna be smoking sweet caramel auto flowering. Or am I just over thinking this whole process lol

The reason I like grinding is to give more surface area for the hot air to pass over. This helps me more thoroughly vape my plant material.

If you notice when vaping, vape til you get little to no more visible vapor then crush it and repack it. You will get a couple/few more hits :D

About the only vape that does a decent job of vaping whole nugs is the Herbalaire

this is what i do, as this answers your question directly because yes using a grinder will indeed reduce the strength of your weed not by much but to me every bit counts.

i have a tray and some fine scissors, no crappy flimsy ones but really sharp durable scissors. i just use a card of any kind, tray and scissors. what i do is i pinch the nug in the corner of the tray with the card, then i just start scissoring away, with vaping you the finer the better, but the finer its cut the lower you want your temp set.

with this way you dont loose a lot of potency that would normally get stuck to the inside of your grinder and its blades which is very hard to scrape off, sadly why i dont make too much kief is because ive always preferred using scissors instead simply because i noticed what you said a lack in potency from buds ground roughly in a grinder. also with this way over time you collect some really potent resin that sticks to the scissors thats way easier to get off than in a grinder and like i said since its all done in the tray mostly every thing stays on the tray and can be happily put into your vape of choice without worrying about all your trichs being stuck in this grinders bits and pieces which will happen it gets everywhere.

nah its all good in all honesty im just extremely picky and love to get every little bit out of my buds that i can, so ive always used scissors. my hero grower taught me this as he said using grinders can be wasteful in a sense and it was so i stuck with it.

yea you will be knocked off your ass depending on how well your first vaping goes heh, i never had trouble with vaping but a lot of my friends and girlfriend for example just cant get the hang of it. so make sure to ease the temp in, never start off hot. it is good to set it to higher temp at the start so it will heat up faster though then remove it to a lower temp and wait just a min or two then add your herb.

another good thing to note is if you do plan on using your grinder lets say if you rather sacrifice a little potency for a little kief here and there, never buy anything but pure metal, dont buy a metal color coated grinder, over time that shit comes off which is really gross to think those little bits of metal color coating are getting in your herb.

i also have to note using a card, tray and scissors lets you cut your herb up much more finely than a grinder ever could, another reason my hero grower always told me to do this because he would always roll these killer blunts and hated when i used a grinder for it, because it didnt get the bud cut as fine, like said by AG the better the surface area the better the hit.

sadly ive spent hundreds of dollars on grinders also, space cases and diamond grinders, all good fun but to me just never worked as well as the good old tray, card and scissors.

how could i forget, having a water filter attachment or even ghetto rigging your own (i broke mine in a being to high incident had to make one) is freaking the best. depending on what vape your getting of course, but if you can add it to it by all means do so, you will be amazed at how you cant even feel the hits with a water filter on top of it being vape already, plus its like super super healthy with that added on and you can add some cold water in that bitch and inhale till you bust a lung without feeling anything, well until it starts to enter your blood stream lol.

Oh man. Glad you mentioned the bong. I got the 2010 Arizer Extreme Q 4.0 Vaporizer coming. I just gotta get the whip size and then order a nice little bong. Any suggestions? I can't wait to get lit off this thing man. :dance013:

I also returned the grinder. I can only imagine how much of a bitch it would be to get one of those things clean with all that resin. Forget about it lol

Ok, just found out my bong will need an 18.8 mm joint so the whip will fit right in. Now to find a cheapo bong that will do the job lol

best place to get water attachments for vaporizers hands down is.

http://dabuddhavaporizer.com/custom-glass/water-filters.html they are a little pricey but so fucking worth it. they are hella nice to, wish i didnt break mine.

all whips come with a tube where you have to inhale, these water filters are made to be attached to the tubes end where you would inhale and you just use your vape like you normally would.

random-14_2_1.jpg

plus its like a sherlock i loved holding it.

see the tube just goes on the green end where you would normally inhale, instead of having to worry about joints. though if you found a cheaper method use it. these arent that hard to make so its hard to make a bad one. i just love dabuddha glass and vaporizer way too much :) so im always plugging their stuff

^^ thats the exact one i got for my SSV. I love it.

You cant really tell in that pic, the base kind of curves in the center so the arms touch the bottom, which forces everything out the slits, which is nice.

I use a grinder also. But towards the end of the pack, I will break up the bud even further since its all dried out. When im done it comes out the consistency of sand, and a chocolate color.

I got impatient and ordered this because I'm quickly running out of money lol. http://www.grasscity.com/us_en/payday-roundfoot-bong-1.html

I have never used a bong before but this looks easy to use and clean. I liked the idea of using ice to cool down the vaper. You think this will be good enough? I did make sure the whip will fit right in. The joint is 18.8 mm. Am I on my way? :)

yea that will work fine, for a second i was like wait a minute, your only going to have one sanded whip to attach to the vaporizer but then i realized it comes with 2 sanded whips, so yea you can use it just fine, just make sure you get your two sanded whips with it otherwise there will be a problem LOL.. cause youll need one for the vape and one for the bong joint.

seems like your set for some prime vaping. i can assure you though cold water alone is enough to make vapor senseless but why not add ice, the more to filter through the better! i just use cold water and fill it with marbles.. this way it gets diffused to hell and is super filtered before it escapes the water, the marbles help break the vapor up well.. you could add some marbles to that bong as well :) for filtration to the max.

its funny cause there is this company now that sells pretty much a bag of marbles for bongs now, as if you cant just buy marbles.. marbles are way better than any stem diffuser though, i just hate im not making money off a reinvented bag of marbles... lol

only thing i absolutely hated with my SSV was that god damn design, how it leans forward. so many whips where broken due to many of my friends just not knowing any better, but i was so stoked once i saw they made the dabuddha, cause its the SSV without the lean and to me a much better design overall and comes standard hands free. the glass cover for the heating element seems much better to me as well, cause its more open. i also liked the the new whip design they made, cause it has a hour glass design so you get that lil tornado swirl that makes it extra smooth. plus it has the awesome buddha engraved onto it.. lol. DBV for life!

ha thats funny cause I like how the SSV has that lean. Keeps the wand at an downward angle so no herb can fall into the heating element. One thing I like about the DBV is the temp knob placement. I hate having to turn the SSV around to check/adjust knob. I also dont like how you can only get Ground glass, whereas on the SSV you can choice between standard, ground glass, or spherical ground glass.
