Dual mount light?

So I wasnt even considering getting a second light till after my first harvest and I had a little more money, but this girl I know who used to grow is desperate for me to take her light off her hands, this is where it gets weird. She says its a 800 watt air cooled.... wtf.

Im like 800 r u sure wtf? and she says yes AND its sun systems. Im like o shit thats a good brand. So i say ill get back to her. Im pretty sure shes talkin about a dual mount light system where there is a 400 watt hps and a 400 watt MH both mounted in the reflector. I'm only considering this because im only offering 100 dollars but I would like some input from someone with experience with these crazy ass dual mounts

My concerns are..........
1)Heat, how much will dual 400s mounted in a single reflector heat up the tent. More than my 600 watt?

2)I cant imagine it would actually be better to grow with a 400 watt MH and HPS at the same time, seems to me it would be better to go with the full wattage of MH or HPS and maybe add sum flouros IDK this is why im asking. My plan was to use it for flowering since itd be a higher wattage than my other light and just use a HPS bulb and a conversion to HPS bulb so id just have 800 HPS watts.

3) and of course 2 sockets means twice as many bulbs which means twice as much $ on bulbs

sun system 7 as you said 1 400w HPS 1 400w MH uses sunlight supplies best components same as SS1 ballasts. SS-7 were expensive and well made set ups. is easy to repair should last years and years.

K ima probobly get it then. Would it be better to veg or flower with the MH+HPS combo or to just use a conversion bulb to get more lumens of same light?

no, the whole point is it IS better to flower under mixed spectrum. not more yield but more trichrome production and slightly less stretch. thats the same reason people spend so much extra on hortilux/ushio enhanced spectrum type bulbs to get some more blue light. with a SS-7 you can buy a cheapo HPS bulb and a cheapo MH bulb and get mixed spectrum.

they sell combo HPS/MH bulbs just for people who want this same effect.

instead of buying a SS-7 I bought a Grow-zilla reflector from hydrofarm. mostly because I was too poor to afford a SS-7. The Grow-zilla is just a 2 socket air-cooled reflector, you supply the ballasts.

Ok well this is what i'm considering, I already have that 600 watt switchable so I can use that for HPS or VEG. Tomorro i'm pickin up that 800 watt SS. What would be the best way to use those two together? Would it be best to use the 600 watt as a MH for veg and then flower under the 800 watt SS?

---Stonedar I lurked ur threads for a long time now before even posting, i promise my first grow will be journaled and you will be one of my dedicatees. I would just dedicate it to you but I promised the Memphis and Chicago police first a long time ago.
