I have been reading a lot of posts on here and a lot of people use the 20 oz coke bottles with some amazing results... I never would have thought such small containers would work so well..

And in a PC grow you could get like 4 or more of these in there..

I have been reading a lot of post from DrBudGreengenes who uses the 20oz bottles..

One thing he said he does is since they are so small, he lets the bottles sit in a container of water 24/7 especially the last 3 or 4 weeks..

Anyway just wonder what you guys think about using 20oz bottles and hearing from you that have used them..

Thanks!

and the benefits are...? I honestly only see the fact that they aren't light proof which is bad.... if you want to choose a small pot then you will not find a better pot than AirPots. The smallest ones are 1l. they are great! best you can get. 1 euro per pot or so

my reasoning to go against those pots would be that they are not light proof. and especially not uv proof. yes you can tape it around, but that just won't make sense. I also do not see ANY benefits exept that it's free... well if that is why you want to use it - then please do.

Hi Dudesome... I mainly am looking for something small.. I had just never heard of anyone using such small containers with good results... Even the 1LT are too big for what I want to do..

Oh and that was not a Pic of me.. Its a Pic of this guy...

Hmm I just don't see what are the benefits. Honestly. There are loads of containers of small sizes that in my opinion should work better thank a bottle of soda. I might think that there indeed is something in the shape of the bottle, since it's tall and narrow. Other than that - sorry absolutely no clue on the benefits yet still...

just because that guy pulls nice crops like that out of a bottle of soda does not indicate any benefits at all... those are just pictures.

The recycling part I however like :jump:

The small pop bottles are to make a sea of green grow with every plant producing a single cola. The idea is to get as many colas in a single space and to produce 7-14 grams per cola.

One of the advantages of using a small container is that the plant becomes rootbound very quickly and this reduces stretching. Rootbinding also puts the plant quickly through it's lifecycle and will promote early blooming.

The disadvantage of having a very rootbound plant is that daily watering is required. Growers will make up a tray and tub setup to soak multiple plants and let them drain to speed up the watering task.

Dudesome- why are you so bent on the light proof thing? Have you grown with clear pots or done scientific sideXside?? Light proof is not as important as you think it is. In Hydro you want light proof set ups cause of algae. In Soil, coir, or soilless, you can get away with light proof pots. After a week or so of growth, assuming your plants are healthy, no light is getting to the pots anyway cause of shading.

it's not about the light itself mate, although I have heard alot that roots do better in dark. Me for instance - I use UVB lights, and so does anyone who plays with spectrums. UV rays will damage your roots - that is pretty clear to me.

as for the little sog and rootboundig 7-14g colas- That part I dig big time! It sounds similar to what I am going to try pretty soon! however im gonna use 1l airpots for that first. if the colas aren't as tight - I may actually try bottles maybe!
thanks Redgreenry! always educating to read a post of yours!
