That means u need to read more. I was there just a few months ago. Look your intending on growing thousands of dollars worth of killer bud, spend the 20 or 40 bucks and get a good book. I read indoor growing bible by cervantes and Grow Great Marijuana by Edwards. Those will give u a basic understanding, enough to learn from other growers on forums. It takes time.

i went out and got the text book for Oaksterdam university..im just not very good with reading it in a book and then making into something.. im more of a hands on person.. besides the book do you have any other tips..

Read the threads here that have 20,000 or more views. Smoke a bowl, read some, take some notes. Take a break. Smoke a bowl... read some more. Take more notes.

After a few months it all starts to gel and then you make good decisions for yourself instead of being spoonfed by others.

I'm curious if you have a reason that you're making your veg room bigger than your flowering room. If I were you I would have very specific reasons for every decision you make and a solid understanding of why you were making them before I spent a bunch of money on stuff.

Basic rules to live by:

o You want 50w per sq. ft of lighting. (example: a 400w light will generally cover about 8 sq ft, which is slightly less than 3ft x 3ft square.)

o You want a powerful extraction fan to keep fresh air flowing in your room and prevent heat and moisture buildup. The rule of thumb here is 2x your volume. So you multiply the length x width x height of your room to find it's volume. A 3x3x3 room would have a volume of 27 cubic feet. In such a room you'd want to have a minimum of 54 CFM fan extracting the room.

There are many ways of growing and each way is different. Check out different methods until you find one that appeals to you and fits your situation.

If you read my thread (in my signature below) you will get to watch me go through the process I took to build my first micro-cab and harvest my first successful harvests.

There are many people around here who will be happy to help, but until you can learn enough to know which questions to ask you're going to have to spend some time doing your own homework.

Good advice given....study up, invest in video if you can (or look online). The point is, do your research. Then, start out with the basics and expand with your skill level. Trying too much, too fast, is a recipe for trouble.

um the reason that my veg is bigger than my flower is well there is no reason to be honest the only thing is that veg room is in a actual room and the flower room is in the closet..

and i will take your advise and watch some videos..

if any one else has some pointers let me know thanks

I was curious about that also. I guess you have to make do with what you have, space wise, but pretty mutch always, flower rooms are quite alot bigger than veg rooms.

lol i figured it would be easier to keep the closet in complete darkness than the room because the room has about 6 windows

Read, read, read, then read some more. It ain't rocket surgery, but it ain't easy as as 1-2-3 either. There is a learning curve, and information overload is pretty common. Keep it simple. It all seems a bit much at first, and mistakes are bound to happen. My first indoor grow was quite the learning experience. I did a bunch of reading, then when I thought I knew what was up, I jumped in the deep end with a 1000 watt hydro setup. I was glued to the frigging computer for hours every day trying to diagnose problems, asking questions and generally going nuts. What a long strange trip! But I pulled it off thanks to some kind folks that took pity on my noobness and a boat load of reading.

I figured out what works for me. You'll have to do the same. But take this in the spirit it is given. Learn from the mistakes of others! You'll learn what NOT to do easy enough, but take the time to learn about the plants needs. After a while, she'll tell you exactly what she needs, and you'll understand. It just takes a while to learn. And don't be afraid to ask questions. The only stupid question is the one you DIDN'T ask.

ya im defiantly on a information overload.. i dont understand many of the technical terms people use.. especially when it comes to electrical terms.. i need a Weed Growing Guru

The threads you should be reading are the Mother Plant Sticky in the soil forum I thnk, JJ's sticky thread on Cloning, and the DIY Link O Rama sticky in the Equipment forum. There's also a sticky for "grow terms" so you can get the jargon...

Start there and you will be a brain grower in no time. The hands on part will come fast

ok so.. im thinking of starting with a 150w hps and using 2/3 Fox Forest Oceanic Forest 1/3 of Happy Frog Potting Soil.. is this a good or bad idea?

and when ur about to post something, type it into that little search bar in google, and you get the answer right then!

ya i could do that but i like hearing from real people.. i rather wait a day to hear from a real person than get some random answer off the internet

Then type +IC Mag after your search string. All/most of the IC hits will appear first.

If you decide to grow in potting soil, buffer the pH before planting. If you're growing in containers, allow the potting soil to dry before watering again.

Try growing plants with chemical ferts before trying to take on organics, micro herd, yada yada.

there is a search bar here on IC. There is also advance search. If you cant use them, you prolly wont be good at growing.

I have made posts to interact with ppl on here, but 98% of questions you will have as a NOOB will have been answered over and over and over. Get to know the search bar and its options.

Member will quickly see you asking questions that you COULD HAVE just searched and we will begin to ignore you.

how do i buffer the pH

You're getting the answers you're getting cuz you're asking such basic questions. It is "real people" who type up the answers found in a quick search. People are trying to get you do some research because a person learns that way...vs spoon-feeding.

Unfortunately, one cannot research their way to expertise. That comes the old-fashioned way: via trial and error, making many mistakes, and learning from them. Biting off more than one can chew leads to disappointment and giving up.
