branch popping out of "socket"

So first let me say that im not new to growing herb. Iv been doing it well for almost 10 yrs. So i think this is sort of an "advanced" question.
This particular strain that im growing is Purple Diesel. I am feeding with Age Old organics like i always do. This year i added some chicken manure (aged), and granulated bone meal.
My plants grow pretty big. and i use a cage around them. BUT here is my problem. I have noticed quite a few branches (lower ones) are popping out of there Socket on the stalk. I'm not sure if this is a deficiency issue, or what.
heres some photos

Maybe it's just the weight of the branch. Try wrapping grafting tape around the branch at the node and get it back in touch with the main stem. Sort of like a splint, huwever the damage may be just to much, if so just cut it off I would suggest. With a big plant your not going to lose much.

Good luck to ya.

I have had 3 plants drop branches that way this year. If there is some of the barkish layer left connecting it to the stem, it will continue growing. What I did to prevent more from breaking off from their own weight was to support them with a sort of trellis to hold the ends up. If they are the lowest branches, you can build up soil to cover the branch while it is still connected to the stem and it will air-layer itself and grow roots.

as you can see from my pictures, they have cages around them. it could be due to weight, but normally i have this problem later when things are budding out real heavily. not so much this time of year.
generally when they pop out, they cant be fixed. I have succeeded in the past, but normally its beyond repair.

it looks like the broken tip has roots forming on it to me, or is that what it looks like once its fallen off? it rips off.

its interesting though, cause i remember that a plant normally forms a callus around/near the branch/node joint once a branch gets a lil heavy or the plant gets bigger.

maybe plant it and see what happens? do you notice at what stage it happens? during veg, close to or during flower aswell? does it happen any other time during the cycle outside of now?

very interesting indeed.

edit: self pruning? maybe a genetic type thing that just started happening to some condition's you werent/arent aware occurred

no thats not a root, thats the hard-wood center being exposed.
I have too many plants as it is. I take cuttings from the lowers to make others. This happens from time to time, but it seems more so with this strain/year. i grew this strain last year and it didnt seem to have that big of a deal. however this year seems to be a little different. I dont know if there is a Micro or Macro that im missing that would cause the lack of joint strength. Im not terribly concerned as there is plenty of branches. But its something that interests me.

Brassinolide is a plant hormone(auxin) that adds strength to the cellular structure of plants. It is said to help with tolerance to heat and cold, along with allowing them to grow larger and better use the nutrients they uptake. Maybe it would help, it has done no harm to mine, and is organically derived. Can be bought on ebay cheap. I don't know what else to offer as help, other than top dressing with compost, rock dust, kelp powder, and alfalfa.

have you checked for aphids at all?
they do some pretty mean stuff to plants
ive too have had branches pop out of socket like you have.... the buds that grow from the plants that have the branch popping problem for me were always horrible....
have your plants that popped arms in the past produce bud of equal quality to the others grown?

Im thinking its something from aphids... or even, to take it really out into left feild - potentially infected with tmv like virus

plant looks good btu its early into flower?
