shortening ripening time

Hey guys growing outdoor now 6 girls, theyre about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks flower from lookin at em even though theyve been outside longer, changed the time to 12/12 for a week and put em out at end of may, theyre all flowering however they seem to be going slow, some faster than others. theyve all at least cuadrupled in size since going out.

Its possible for me to build a pvc frame and cover them with a tarp to depo them, my question is will this make them ripen faster and finish earlier, reason being Im leaving for humboldt in august for school, if they time is shortened about how much would it cut it.

the solstice was the 21 of june here in Orange ****y california, the time right now is 14 hours light 25 minutes day sunrise 545, sets around sets around 730 light goes well into 840 pm, I could tarp them at 6 pm every night or tarp them at night and wake up around 8 am to untarp em in the morning. Also what kinda tarps do i use, hydro plastic? is it big enough? thanks If people are curious about the plants I can definately snap a shitty cell phone pic if need be, peace an blessings to all. Lead a wonderful life.:jump:

As long as you keep them in total darkness they will flower. But there is no way you can knock any time off the ripening process. They take as long as they take so to speak. You'll want a tarp that will block out all light. So it will have to be heavy and dark in color. But I'm wondering how they will handle the heat outside there while covered up. I'm thinking they will suffer heat related problems.
Think this is the "stuff" you were talking about, hehe

thanks so much ryder, I thought about the heat so i was thinking of tarping at sundown and uncovering at 9 am. So the heat isnt to much. Keep stuffing.

Theyre all budding already baker, theyre justing taking longer than normal and some are going single blade, I think its the 14 +of light that is making em slow flower.

I think they will do alot better under 12/12, im just not sure and wondering from other outdoor growers if they would react to the covering and shortening in time positively, how will they react exactly? Would it be in my best interest to shorten the time or would the 14 hours of light have no effect on the plants finishing time (specifically by extending it, what im trying to avoid).

My goal is get a normal flower time if not a shortened one, because at the rate theyre flowering they look like they will all take longer than 70 days and they are not 70 plus day strains. The plants in my closet are much further along and they are from the same group of clones, they just stayed inside after one week of 12/12.sorry if im being vague, thanks!

You can't do a comparison with the outies and the ins unfortunately. I'd say depo them, at night, with some sort of dark cloth that 'breathes'. That is, that allows air to pass through freely.

at night would be like 6 pm and it could still be really hot around that time, is there a diff if i depo in the morning, uncover at 9 am?
