As you can see there are 100 ways to do the same thing...

Except I have found no reasons to do any of those things. You are making things more difficult then they need to be, and if you really need to remove bugs and crap from your soil by flushing with hot water after each run you are compensating for a poorly run grow. If you keep your soil in balance and healthy there is no need to do anything with it at all. I subscribe to the "simpler is better" school of thought and most people are surprised at just how simple it can be... and simple produces better yields and quality anyways. My system can yield over 3 lbs per light with a good producing strain and quality is as good as it gets IMO.

Just saying, if you are going to be running salt ferts, and killing off the microherd everytime you water?
WHY THE FUCK USE SOIL?
There are better mediums than soil if you are going to be running STERILE with SALTS.

But since you run sterile, try trowing the soil in a 50gal drum on top a turkey burner. Easy way to Pasteurize your medium.

I'm just done throwing money at a weed, hoping it's going to do something magical.
Been there, done that.
Been raped long enough by the store, gotta cut out the middle man, where possible.

I agree, there are much better mediums to run sterile. Of course, it costs a lot more, is a lot more work and produces lesser results than a properly maintained soil system :)

It is amazing how inexpensive it is to run a recycled soil grow... once you get it down you can add more soil amendments and use less of the expensive liquid nutes too.

I honestly can't believe how expensive some of those bottles of nutes are... it's all a bunch or HYPE and BULLSHIT.

I can.
It's profit!
Econ Rule #1: The price of ANYTHING is what SOMEONE is willing to pay for it.

Might have to get in on that game instead.
Sometimes I think this 'Whacky Tabbaky' has made me stupid.

You check out any of Jaykush, CC2U, or Capt.Cheese threads?
Really interesting.

This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you

dragging hooks ,

There's always products like GH's Flora Kleen & similar flushing /leeching agents for applying with water to remove salt build up in hydro & soil mediums . There's one product out there that many have raved about (someone might know here ) but just can't remember the name and all these are harmless to plants used as directed .

The easy route to rinsing soil mediums is to do it right when your flushing at the end with plants still in their pots ! Its more wonderful just to add to an OD garden & buy new soil , but if you do the above then just harvest & screen it and your good to go .Just flushing the plants well towards the end with good plain water , is almost enough by itself to leach out most of the salts too.

But will want to mix part to part with some new medium to add back some "loft" and the organic boyz all like to use some Kelp meals in their mixes, some guano/ok & calcium/shell plus a good humus if can get ... and the most perfect add~back is always going to be EWC
(worm shit) almost the perfect natural food .
Fulvics & humics are good to apply too...

* Making teas in the summer is easy as making Sun Tea in just
24hrs to get your biotics working again and very cheap to do.
recipies are very simple 1-2-3-Bueno!
http://www.bountea.com/index.php?id=43

(micro herd is affected by salt ferts if you use but a good tea shouldn't hurt..find your "medium" )

We have actually seen that one, being old hippies we spend a fair amount of time in SF.
We met in SF in 1977 and our first date was a Grateful Dead concert at Winterland Arena

Heading to northern California for David Nelson Band's Harvest tour this fall
and we are toying with the idea of flying out for fleet week
The Blue Angles over the bay was too cool last year

We aren't full blown hippies, both of us are Veterans, college educated professionals (medical/engineering)

Going to spend the day sealed in the air conditioned house trimming buds.
The grand daughter was over our house yesterday and her kiddie pool is still full in the back yard,
I may be in it at some point today

stay cool Colorado growers

This artist "Rex Ray" in SF has really made the grade Red ...came out from Colorado much younger always a lone military brat ... and got a job at Tower records 3days after landing broke in the City and slept in his car for 3mos . He lived for art & music and worked for 9yrs at City Lights Bookstore while going thru Art School where he was taught to make everything "ugly" , lol...

He developed this really nice technique from doing cut outs of Magazines as a hooby than began to cut them into shapes & decoupaging them in fascinating flower patterns

Rex Ray ( was in love with Man Ray as a young artist )
http://www.rexray.com/portfolio.htm

Paying his bills now pretty well ...all done meticulously by hand & more impressive when you see how big some of these works are . Certainly went against the grain of "ugly is pretty" ...pretty whimsical stuff almost Cirque du Solei qualities .

Rex also did dozens & dozens of rock posters for Bill Graham Presents in the 90's with his love of music & David Bowie was impressed with his work enough to hire him for several covers and many other artists too ...

good for Rex as he loved Bowie's work as younger artist and later tapped
to do his cover work by Bowie himself

We had a great lightening storm last night...I sat out on the porch to watch the lightening show on The Monument; it was beautiful and really cooled things off last night...I'm still hearing a rumble every few minutes and it's a tad cooler than it has been; but, we didn't get much rain, I had hoped would accompany the storm; at least not so far......
Wow, well it's not over yet! A HUGE gust of wind just blew and it suddenly got dark. :yikes:

It's on it's way guys! :hide:
