Paladin, no offense at all..... good question, actually.

I think allota folks get this bent; many peeps (at least in Cali, where my experience is) think that if your just providing meds, you fit under tha caregiver definition;

Here's a definition of caregiver from The Free Dictionary
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/caregiver

care·giv·er (kârgvr)
n.
1. An individual, such as a physician, nurse, or social worker, who assists in the identification, prevention, or treatment of an illness or disability.
2. An individual, such as a parent, foster parent, or head of a household, who attends to the needs of a child or dependent adult.

My first hand experience was with dealing with Mother and Father, both cancer victims.... Just recently, saw my father to death as a result of lung cancers, metastasizing to his bones and other organs. He was a Korean and Viet-Nam veteran and lived well into his 70's, so he saw a good life.... He was in full on palliative care, though he was mobile in a wheelchair up until 2 weeks before his death. Trips to tha E.R; meals made, household taken care of, bathroom cleaned, (this was a big one, as his body was shutting down and losing control, with no strength to help himself) just all tha ill, behind tha scenes shit. And just playing tha waiting game..... Sad, as I'd never allow my dog to suffer like that, much less watch and listen to my own father go out like this....

Anyhow, it's tha full package. Provide meds, but also put tha time and love into it. It's not an easy road, but a satisfying one. Tha experience has changed me, made me a better person, however I'm haunted by some of this and tha "head fuck" of death.

Thank You Sir:

I guess with this new career "good' days and 'bad' days happen on the same day.

Some one now has a definition of how I differ from a 'Just another drug dealer'. Got M some 'Education'

IMHO "caregiver" seems to be one of those words that the politicians (at least in colorado) want to use to throw sand in the gears. what it means to a grower and what it means to a nurse are two completely different things.

the way i am seeing the word at the moment it would be in the thesaurus under mindgame, loophole, clusterfuck, gang rape or business as usual.

funny how only a lawyer (earning huge fees) can really define any word in the english language that happens to be in the same sentence with MMJ. i am sure they have our best interests in mind....:dunno:

Fuck yeah Steele!

It's not so tough handing a person a package saying there ya go and feeling all cool n shit. The rubber meets the road when your sitting bedside for many a hour or days and watch the horendous pain. The demensia. The incoherant babbling then the death growl. And finally they draw their last breath. It definatly brings me to my knees every single time. I'm not just talking family either. I've just recently watched a very good friend I knew and hung with in High School go down and I'm only 50! Fucking rough shit man.

Paladin bro. His description of a "true" caregiver is dead nut on. IMHO of course!!!

Your definatly on the right track brother and I see you expanding further just from my experiences with you and chatting on the net. Your on the right road brother. BUT, keep growin. Never get stagnant. there's so many people and ways to help out it isn't even funny. Such a shame so many needy folks in this world. The fucking money wasted on shit like the BULLSHIT war on drugs and this Afghanastan shit could of helped thousands or even hundreds of thousands????? Just blows my mind!!!

Anyway. I saw this and Steeles composition struck home BIGTIME!!!!

Good luck my brother. keep up the good fight, I.R...

Kinda curious as to who is fucking w ya... not a name really, but somehow something is fucking w u...? Definitions & meaning vary from person to person... and are really created & understood w/in a context of what is happening in the circles that surround them.

One can say caregiver to mean something along the lines of a trained nurse that is coming to the home to complete a medical practice... or in others minds, it pops up as this dude w a spinner sign on the street corner of the local dispensary. Seems like you are very occupied with how others are defining you... and they are doing so based upon their limited life's experiences, of which, you have very, very little influence.

I have a definition of a drug dealer... that fits the pharma rep quite well, though most wouldn't consider them the same at all.

For most the world... I produce a substance that causes one to get 'high' with very little, if any, real benefits... and I sell & distribute this substance, which makes me a drug dealer. Very clear cut for most.

These definitions are dated based upon the context of our cultural war on mores & acceptable behaviors... those that have previously been defined as either good or bad. What we are working through now, is an attempt to change these definitions & roles & evaluations.

And, me thinks, businessperson is the first step in the process... from dealer to manufacturer & distributor... oh wait, that sounds bad too. Okay, from dealer to caregiver. And many people just aren't ready for this, or will resist it.

Basically, it is my actions that separate me from a traditional dealer. I'm not taking just any product & slinging it to anyone for as large of a margin as possible, just so long as it is as easy as possible, without any further consideration than to what is in front of my face at the time. Rather, I am taking the time & effort & expense & experience necessary to offer up a clean & pristine product with the utmost in consideration to their well being & sense of value.

Most of the people that I run across are in the biz to get rich... make the easy money... the roles of c-notes that just grow on trees. They don't give a shit about anything other than how much money they can make. These are still dealers, in my book... and what you have to work against when others throw you in with these cats... the dealers.

There are a lot of dealers still out there, no doubt whatsoever. Just don't be one of em. And the judgmental pricks that can't pull their heads outta of their asses long enough for them to scratch that shitty head of theirs... to possibly stimulate a single original thought... well, fuck em... and all the dealers out there too.

Yes>>

I wish I could Quote Both Miway and IS(who is a friend and a True Caregiver)
While Droppin off capsules for a friends Terminal Parent I caught a family member stealin her meds. Threats insued. As a'drug dealer' those threats were valid. As a caregiver? Not so much... A dealer would be gone... I'm still here.. He's all gone..In My Not So Humble Opinion? That is the difference to us.. Growers of Medicine

I was called a drug dealer, and what was I gonna do 'call the cops?' Well I am a Licenesd Caregiver. We were about to see how that was gonna playout when I got lucky and he grabbed my reason for chronic pain..
His family stepped right the fuck up.Packed his ass off to another state. They had seen the inprovement in their mothers days. Her Mood and appeitite both much better. Wish I cuold hav started sooner ;(-

As a drug dealer I was in the wrong.. As a Caregiver I Am In The Right..
