Venting this room- please give your opinions

Would this be a good way to ventilate my rooms? If not, I would appreciate any suggestions. I am in a race against time to get this flower room done...

What's confusing me is that i've heard people talk about venting the grow and venting the light..with this setup I would be doing both right? Because the fan is venting the light, but it will also suck hot air from thge rest of the room correct? The hot air would be blown into the attic. Keep in mind the temps here in the Summer are almost always over 100 and the humidity ids like 10%. Should I be ok or will I have to worry about mold, etc?

hey man looks like youve got it pretty close.

the one thing i see that i would change is that a/c vent. that should be at the bottom at your passive intake. so when your fan is pulling air through your hood and out of the room. the passive air being drawn into the tent is being cooled.

so its drawing that cool air into the room from the bottom and through the hood and out. it should still work decently the way youve got your a/c in there to cool your hood.
but what sort of ambient temps are you dealing with?

if the ambient temperature being drawn into the tent is hot too. you may still deal with high temps.

and it looks like in your picture that veg room will be passive air only?
nothing powered to remove the air?

the a/c vent should also be at the bottom of that room as well if youre using it as the fresh air intake.

Ok..should I just extend the ac vent at the Y connector and bring it near the floor by the intake vent(hole in the wall)?
Yes I was just palnning on doing that room without a fan, unless it get's too hot. It has 4 48" T5 bulbs. Think that will be ok like that?

Yea, I plan on doing something about the smell once I get everything else up and going. I hope that will be easy to add to what I am doing now. I just know I have to get some kind of ventialtion in there quick so I can put up the walls and start 12/12.

^^ good call canna, forgot to mention the stink. no scrubber?

you could extend the a/c vent to the floor, but make sure its on the outside of the room.

it may get too hot in the veg room. really all you can do is plug it all in and give it some test runs. to see where youre at. and modify as needed to get it dialed in.

but it looks like youre well on your way to getting it right.

I don't know how I could get the ac extended outside the room. One side is a bedroom that I can't run ducting in, the other is the outside wall. Any ideas? I can't just run it form the Y connector over to the wall, then down near the vent?

what i would do as of now if get it all running just the way you have it. monitor temps and everything you know you need to monitor. then from there make the adjustments needed to get it where you want it.

how cool are you able to keep the entire house, or room that your setups are in? central a/c is what im gathering?

ya it's central. it's a 2 story with 2 ac units, so I have to keep its set around 80 or my electric bill is out the fucken roof. so I will go it with like this then and keep an eye on everything. I guess I will just run the ac vent in the room for now then, just over and down.

as long as your ambient temps in your house arent too high, you should be good to go my man.

you may need to make a few adjustments here and there. but looks like youve got it handled. grow on!

Run it 24/7 - unless you're suplementing co2.

The plants need fresh air to be able to photosynthesise.

co2+water+light=sugar.

If you limit one factor of the equation it doesn't matter how good the other two are.

Thanks fells. As for the intake in the flower room, will a 12"x16" rectangular wall vent from home depot be good? It will share a wall with a empty bedroom with ac. Or would a couple 6" round holes in the wall work better?
I want to do what what works best, but the vent will look a hell of a lot better in the other bedroom than some holes in the wall.
Unfortunately, I can't see anyway to get fresh air in from the outside, and it's too hot here for that anyways.

The vernt would be best - just make sure it doesn't leak light into your flower room.

Also using inside air is really the best - keeps a more constant temperature, and should be more co2 rich (people breathing etc).

Right on. What is a good way to keep that vent from letting light into flowering room? I have a furnace filter, but I don't think it's going to stop enough light...

One other question..should I keep the glass lens in the light/hood? Will this contain the heat up there so it's easier for the fan to suck it out?

I remember someone saying that they used a box on the inside, over the vent, with the bottom open. Might stretch panty hose over the vent.

Yes, keep the glass on, that way the air flows better over the bulb. That, and if it explodes you'll be happy you did.
